PT 7.3 audio file management?
I just made the jump from PTLE 5.2 to PTLE 7.3 and I'm having an issue with file mangement. In the old 5.2, a session template would automatically create a new audio files folder and link and store all files seperately for the session in this folder. In PTLE 7.3 the session doesn't do this. It puts ...

I've been doing this on drums for a while. It's definitely a keeper trick. Read about it in Tape Op a while back. I mix ITB (hopefully not for long) with PTLE 5.2. old but solid. I also send the whole kit to a stereo bus and return it 3 times, one dry, one 1176 insert and one LA2A insert. Season to ...

I got a set too. Pretty cool for $99. I thought the exact same thing, that they maybe originally were gonna call themselves phoenix and then changed their mind. not bad mics. The kick and tom mics are cool. The overheads are open but a little harsh on the top when cranked. One of my tom mics was rat...

For external drives, using USB2, Firewire 800 or 400, the OWC Mercury & Neptune lines have always performed flawlessly for me. http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/
I agree. I've been using a pair of Mercury's for a couple of years now, with no problem...

I second (or third) the U-5. Best piece of gear I bought last year. If I was an Avalon rep, I could have a second job. I've "sold" more than a few to bass players who have come in and recorded through it, gone out the next day and bought one for themselves. Totally solved my bass guiar dilema I had ...

I use an Avalon U-5 DI. The thing that no one really mentions about the U-5 is that it has a 400watt speaker input on the back for use with the speaker out of an amp head. It's not a load, so run a cab off the head so you don't cook it. Most balls from bass head come from the power section. You don'...

I have one. Very cool. Very clean, but the compressor/limiters could have been left off each channel and it wouldn't have hurt anyones feelings. They're really useless. Aside from using them as "crucial over" type limiters, does Anyone have any tips on utilizing the comp/limiters in these where they...
