sebadohs 'not a friend' guitar sound
i think this is one of the coolest sounding guitar recordings ever. anyone know who recorded this album and how it was done? im going to be tracking a band with this style at the end of the month and would love for some ambient style guitar sounds like these. any tips?

what is this spreader?
while reading 'recording the beatles' they talk about a spreader knob used to widen the stereo image of a sound in the mix. i think they brefily mentioned it uses transformers of the sort but im still not aware of how they did this? anyone know what there talking about?
