yeah, I'm not a smoker, and I'm young, so any attempts to gruff up my voice are at best a passable cookie monster. so I go with what I have ;)Scodiddly wrote: But... everybody has such *young* voices!

Re: Good Electrical Engineering programs in the Bay Area?
I'd reiterate that you should check out the curriculum closely. I got a BSEE from UMass Amherst and most of the coursework was less than practical for a recording studio. Due to technology and the growing influence of recruiting corporations, EE curricula now emphasize specialized applications rathe...

I'd also like to get in on this one. I like a lot of the album ideas that have been mentioned; if we do rain dogs, I'd take 'blind love'.

Re: OK - why is pot illegal and alcohol is legal?
At one time I would have summarized my thoughts like many here: "it doesn't really matter anyhow because I can generally get it when I want, consume it privately, and nobody cares." Then I realized that I'm white and not poor, and that most people locked up for possession are black. So sure, it's no...

Re: screen printing for mic pre
I'm not sure about prices as they correspond directly to design complexity, but: front panel express has downloadable software you can use to design a panel, and they manufacture it. I'd guess it won't be a great deal unless you're ordering a bulk quantity.

Re: need your AVATAR resized?
if you want to use an image you found on the web, download it, resize it on your computer (if you have a graphics program, otherwise sonicgirl and wing have volunteered to do this part), then upload it to some webserver. if you have space at geocities.com/ubertar/ , just upload the graphic like you ...

Re: Grado Headphones
wow, I had the same problem with sr-60's I got recently—a low-frequency buzzing, like a flapping piece of paper. I sent them back and they returned "repaired", but the problem is still present, albeit less frequent. Grado has been friendly about the situation, but it's annoying to have to send...

Re: a rant.
I personally try to keep my feelings about "America" and "The Government" as two very separate things. It's important to remember that the government is nothing more than a group of people, going to work every day to do their job just like all of us. The people in charge of the government are rich,...

Re: Walter Sear makes me cry
I think some folks are arguing different points here... Sear's main concern with the state of recorded sound is fidelity. I agree with his main points on that topic: it takes ear training to tell the difference between the live and recorded sound, technical training to understand your equipment full...
