This should be everything you need: 1. Unscrew the capsule and connector and cut the wires. 2. Heat the body of the mic with a heat gun, hair dryer, or boil in water. 3. Once the hot glue is loose, pull on the wires to remove the transformer. 4. Add two wires, one from + on the capsule to pin 2 on t...

I used hot (pin 2) to the + on the speaker, and cold (pin 3) to the - on the speaker. I used the shield to ground the speaker frame. The output is huge. I had to zero the mic preamp and cut the volume on the channel. When I get around to it, I'm going to do some .mp3's of it and the standard kick mi...

Subkick mic
Yamaha makes a device called a subkick mic. It's basically just a speaker placed next to the bass drum head. They put it in a little miniture drum. I made one by using a 6-1/2" woofer I got for $13 from www.partsexpress.com. I used a Samson drum mic stand. I just drilled a hole in the metal surround...

Mine is modded with a switchcraft enclosed barrel jack in the cabinet and a standard 1/4" jack at the amp. The purpose of the 4 pole XLR at the cabinet was so that the amp ouput would be shorted if the cabinet was not connected. An open circuit at the output will cause the amp to go into runaway and...

Piezos can sound great, but they really need a buffer. I installed one of these in my 1986 Clevinger EUB: http://www.cafewalter.com/cafewalter/fetpre/index.htm
It made a huge difference, more bass and an overall fuller sound without a harsh high end.

I have one and love it. I had a B-15 and sold it and kept the SB-12. If yours has the original 7868 power tubes, you will find out that they are rarer than the SB-12 is. Mine has been modified and has 6V6 power tubes. There is a later version of the SB-12 with 6L6 tubes as well. If you really want t...

Why bother with cheap mic cable when you can get Canare StarQuad for $.36 a foot? I get mine at http://www.markertek.com and http://www.redco.com

Barts are a mellower sound than EMG's and others. They try to recreate the sound of vintage basses, and do it well. I have had a lot of Bartolini's. I'm into blues, so I'm not looking for a biting rock sound. The Pedulla is designed to sound warm and mellow too. Very nice basses. I have a Mexi Jazz ...
