B15

Anybody know where I can get the specs on the transformers used in the Ampeg B15. If it makes a difference the amp I've been playing is a B15N made in 66. I was thinking about building one and adding an extra set of 6l6GC's, needless to say I haven't been able to come up with the specs on the tranny...

Out of curiosity, why do you think the inductor's bad? I watched it go up in smoke when I put new 6L6's in, its one of the old ones with the paper between the coiled wires. I have been looking to get a variac, where is the best place to get one? Thanks for your input everybody I'm sure I'll have a ...

Inductor Question

I am working on a Sears Silvertone model 1484. I have a bad inductor but I can't determine what to replace it with, any markings on it are charred. I have the schematics that came with it but all I see on that is a part number for sears. The part I have pulled off is between one of the secondary tap...

If you're going to be in there anyway and feel comfortable with desoldering a lot of components, I say go for it. The other side of that argument is, why are you restoring the thing in the first place? Do you like the way it sounds? If so, why would you change every single component in it? Especial...

Ampex ATR 700

Just curious if anyone has a service manual or schematic for an Ampex Atr 700. I have a bad channel and am trying to figure out what it is and how to fix it. Basicly when ch2 is armed there is a great deal of noise "distortion\static" reguardless of weather cables are pluged into inputs or not. Any ...

Silvertone 1484

I have a silvertone 1484 amp head that has really weak output. I get good tone but hardly any volume out of it. As I crank the volume knobs I can hear the signal start to overdrive a little bit but the volume output stays the same. The first thing I did was clean the Vol. and Tone pots praying it mi...

I have had good luck putting an AKG 414B about 12 to 18 inches off the accordion grill. For a cool stereo effect I've mounted two SM98's on the center of the accordion grill in an XY configuration.

I was reading the "Behind The Gear" article featureing Lucas van der Mee from Apogee Electronics. and he said "The major complaint of engineers that chose analog over digital is that the digital is lacking in the lower midrange (no energy) and the widened (flat) stereo image, with a virtual hole in ...
