Why must choirs always clap, or break out silly percussion instruments? Everything will be going just fine, then suddenly it turns into gospel hour! I used to do live choral recordings (no retakes) and this kind of thing would always sneak up on me. Are they overbearing in all the mics? Close mics? ...

Wow! I wish my problem was that easy to point to!

I've set it aside for a few days. Now I just need to go through it with the multimeter.

Thanks!

Hey ott0,

did you get to re-ribbon yet? I'm still waiting for my material. Would be curious if you have any tips.

What happens when relatively obscure bands become more popular, and begin making money from their work. Would those who had once said, "I don't care if people share (or steal) my music," feel differently if it was their sole source of income? I.e., how many people who say, "the man is keeping me dow...

Thanks for your reply, ott0bot! That's a great link -- thanks for sharing. Upon closer inspection of the ribbon, I found a tear near the top terminal. I started taking it apart and discovered that the ribbon was not making contact with that terminal, so I will be ordering. I'm going to try diy audio...

Philco (EV) V-2A ribbon mic

I've had this sitting around for a while. The previous possessor detached all the wiring (in an attempt to wire it for XLR, I'm guessing.) Well, I just got around to wiring it up this morning. There is no signal except from handling the mic. There is no hiss or distortion, responds cleanly to handli...

I mixed on MSP5s w/o a sub for years and they worked okay except for being anemic in the low end and kind of harsh in the high end. Not only did the low end improve with addition of the SW10 (I'm not sure they still make it) but the sonic image cleaned up quite a bit.

FWIW,

+1 on MSP5!

I've been using a pair for years with the SW10 subwoofer -- it extends the bass and seems to clear up the sound as well. However, the MSP5s hold their own when I switch off the sub.

WTB: EQ pot for PM1000

It's a 50k center tapped pot, but if you're reading this, you probably already know that! :)

I've got a broken one and would love to replace it if anyone has PM1000 parts kicking around.

Thanks!

I'm assuming the Aurora has ADAT out? Just run it in to the ADAT in on your 002 and set your clock master to ADAT. I do it all the time with an old Sonorus ADC. So I have 8 ins from the Sonorus, plus the analog ins on the 002. That's 16 inputs, plus 2 more if you have something with SPDIF out. Have ...

Are you handy with a soldering iron? 2K could get you a lot of seventh circle audio, i.e., a chassis with 2 neve style pres and 2 api style pres plus a couple channels of the less expensive modules. I love mine!
