Cool! Great idea. I can definitely see how you wouldn't want to lose all that nice natural light. Thanks for posting!

Cool idea. I'd love to see pics if you have them handy.
I'm struggling with the "what is easiest" vs. "what is the best for comfort" vs what is the best for soundproofing"
It's a tough one!

Yeah, double paned vinyl windows. I'd prefer to leave them in and just beef them up from the inside to make the outer leaf. Maybe a couple layers of drywall right up on the inside of the window? The natural light would be nice but I'm worried about getting dust in there on the window over time and b...

Covering up existing garage windows

Hello! It was recommended to me that I should cover up my existing insulated garage windows. I'm building a room within a room style studio in my garage and I'm abandoning any hope of having natural light in there for the benefit of more sound insulation. Originally I was intending to just cover up ...

Avoiding wall perforations

Hello. Planning a new studio space and am wondering about avoiding too many wall perforations due to standard outlets and switches. Seems like putting boxes and wire conduit on the surface of the wall would avoid having so many holes to let sound out. Ugly, perhaps. Seems like most people don't buil...

Led Zeppelin II "drums only" mix?

Hey there. I couldn't figure out where was best to post this. I was recording a bout 10 years ago in a place in LA and the engineer was mentioning that some people had a drums-only mix of Led Zep II. Obviously this could be pretty useful if not even for fun projects with loops etc. I'd love to hear ...

NY technique? huh?

Hey there. I saw a few posts referring to a "NY Mastering technique" and also a "NY compression technique" Anyone feel like illuminating this.

Maybe even though I am in San Diego this might be worth trying. :)

Hey there. Cool! I have that video. It's a good one. Thanks. !!! What a fun tour that was. Jehu is great!!! Re: Riot for Romance: As for mic placement, Greg didn't do anything too out of the ordinary for close micing. The thing that made it noticable different was the way he set up the drums in the ...

Riot for Romance

Hey there. My friend sent me the link about this album. I am the drummer from No Knife and this record was recorded on my Mac G4. It seems like some people had questions about the process and the room etc so here's a little about it. We went in through UA preamps and an old Soundcraft board. Nothing...
