I just did this myself. The main impetus was to more easily integrate my growing collection of outboard. I haven't had any new sessions to work on, but so far I think I'm going to be okay with the 16/18 outs. I have been remixing stuff I tracked in the last year to get a feel for my approach. I will...

I'm pretty far from an audio genius, but here's my opinion anyway: Like most things going on in an electrical circuit, transformers are played upon by a series of "leverages" of sorts. (At least that's how i think of it) So really the input transformer of an 1176 will not sound the same if used for ...

I'd run a separate drive for the audio and get a bunch of RAM (at least double especially if you are going to mix on it). I did some field recording with my old 400MHZ Ti Book and my 002 and it had a hard time with recording 2 tracks. Having said that, my G4 1.2 tower did a reasonable job of recordi...

Re: i
There is one on 27th street next to the Ci Ci's pizza. On the east side of the street. Kinda wedged in between the Dollar Tree and a Chinese food place...I think. It might be next to Sally Beauty Supply. It's just a shopping center. The one at Gateway is too far out of the way. WOW, THANKS!! Must b...

I just purchased some DB25 to TRS snakes for a new patchbay setup from Redco. They were very reasonable - especially considering what a PITA soldering DB25's must be (I'll admit I've never tried). I have melted a ton of solder over the years, but this is one of those things that was just going to be...

Simple solution then (depending how you work/record)- I'd just monitor the signal going into the MBox instead of the signal coming out of it. Or- switch yer buffer to </=256 and suspend your plugins (on mac control+option+command clicking will suspend plugs across the whole mix without losing settin...

Can you mult the inputs going into your Mbox using the mixer for monitoring? This is what I do, if I understand "multing" properly... (what's multing?!?) I think PTs LE lack of PDC is also a culprit. A-holes!!! I've already downloaded a few entry level apps that can run off Digidesign's AISO softwa...

If your just a singer sonwriter you should be able to monitor via hardware and not worry about Latency. I have a small mixer patched in before the Mbox, and I monitor from the mixers headphone / monitor out. I guess that you're suggesting that if I use the headphone jack on the Mbox itself, then my...
