I'm learning the same thing. It only makes them compare the music, or mix or something else undesirable to the situation at the time. Good thought.

I guess knowing that he punched in every vocal rearranges my perception of the record a little, but if you listen closely at all you can tell that everything was super-edited anyhow. Such is life, and honestly, would it be the same record without the mindbendingly sharp stops and starts? I'll still ...

Refused -shape of punk to come

I've been obsessed with the sounds on this record for some time. Does anyone have any insight at all into how this was recorded? Gear used? Any random info?

Lately I've been using a d-112 inside the kick but about 4 inches from the resonant head and pointed at the shell instead of the beater. It thins the sound out a bit, but I like how the attack sounds. Then I put an LDC outside the kick centered about 6-8 inches away from the head. I usually eq alot ...

I've had this happen repeatedly on punches, especially on bass and clean guitars. The cleaner the tone, the harder it is to get the playing nuances to match up. Also there's a big difference between starting to play a part cold or semi-cold and being in the middle of a long take. I usually have the ...

Sitar? Assorted hand drums? Help!

I'm getting ready to start a project that I've been looking foward to for some time, but am also a little nervous about. I'm hoping to get your advice... Basically it will be a rock/sitar instrumental album. The artist will be playing everything except for drums, and he's chosen his favorite drummer...

Actually it was a town (cant remember the name) nearby down 90 a bit, but we went back to ashtabula to eat alot of times.. Anyhow.. I opened the thing up, found the ne5334's and lo and behold they are already in a socket. A gentle tug and one of them came out so I could examine it closely. I guess t...

replacing op amps on a presonus eureka?

I've been reading some back pages of this forum and they were talking about upgrading the presonus eureka with brown-burr opamps. I'm pretty new to the who DIY thing, and I was wondering if anyone would help me with a little walk through. I love studying recording, but I'm becoming facinated with th...

That looks really cool. Good idea too. Yeah this isn't gonna be for profit at all. I'll be selling it to bands and vendors for what I have into it. It's more of a way for me to support the scene and get exposure at the same time. Just kindof scary to put a bunch of money down on it and have a chance...

Yeah, I agree. It's worth it to them because they can sell it, and I'll have some exclusive songs from bands that won't come out anywhere else, but I totally understand that. I've been on many compilations myself. Anyone have any duplication hookups that they can refer me to?
