Making a compilation, anyone know of a duplication hookup?

I'm in the process of trying to do something for studio promotion that works something like this... 1.Pick 5 bands that I really enjoy in the local scene, some i've recorded, some I haven't. 2. Contact them and ask them if they would either let me record a song for free in order to put on a compilat...

Thanks for the help! Another quick question.. Does anyone have experience with the digital mpa? I've seen alot of good reports on analog section of them, but haven't heard much about the converters on these. Anyone who's had experience care to comment? They seem like a good deal for the money.

ART Digital MPA into Firepod via s/pdif?

Hey all, this may be a simple question and if so, awesome. I searched for this a bit but couldn't find anything relating to this specifically. I'm looking to add a few more inputs to my recording system and I was considering buying an art digital mpa and hooking it up into the s/pdif input on the ba...

I've been using the firepod for a little while now, and have very few complaints. Nothings has crashed, and the pres are very respectable. Anyhow here are a few projects I recorded on the firepod, mixed and mastered myself.. www.myspace.com/gonetograceland www.myspace.com/zombiesaregay www.myspace.c...

I've had that happen sometimes.. You begin to mix with all the faders down a bit from where you are used to having them, and the mix turns out great. A good mastering engineer is fully capable of bringing your mix up to normal listening levels. In fact a lot of them like to have some room to work, a...

That mult tip on the snare is exactly what I needed! I can't belive i didn't think of that. Adding a little distortion on a seperate track and mixing it in just brought out exactly the life I needed on a track I'm working on. Haha, I feel dumb for not trying it sooner.

I recorded drums on a record there, and it turned out pretty sweet. Not super fancy, but the vibe was really cool, and it was all tucked back in an old logging town.

I toured for 6 years, and those plastic lug locks were life-savers. I worked hard on my technique, but I did rimshot and otherwise my snare would be gone by the 5th song. I also find it's handy for hard hitters in the studio. Doesn't replace good tuning and proper hitting, but it can help keep your ...

Another quick trick I've found in 6 years of touring, is (especially when you have new heads) to take your thumb and press down about 2-3" inside each lug. The obviously looser sections will wrinkle more easily, and I've developed enough of a feel to now be able to get it pretty close even with soun...

Drawing in pitch on autotune?

I've been recording on this system my buddy set up a while ago, but one thing I've never played with much is the autotune. I hate the fake warbly sound it gets when it doesn't pick up the note correctly, and don't use it much. I do know however that you can draw it in on certain notes and keep the s...

Man, you have no idea how much I want to get a laptop and take some headphones, and my firepod and work my way across the country. Just find old musicians in their natural habitat and record them. Wouldn't charge for the recordings. Just do some other sort of work to keep myself moving. If that happ...

I have rarely found a time when I didn't need to reverse the phase on the bottom mic. I usually zoom in on my daw and just look at alignment. If it is out of phase in the first few wavelengths, I'll flip it and listen. In phase mics tend to have a fuller bass response, and better stereo imaging. Wit...
