Sterling Morrison's solo on "What Goes On" from the Velvet Underground's s/t album.

The sound, the performance, the goosebumps.

Os Mutantes used a bug spray can's "pfffft" on 'Le Premier Bonheur du Jour'. I think this might be what you mean by old Brazilian stuff.

I work for a indie CD replication company (Discmakers). Anytime we get calls for vinyl, we refer them to United Record Pressing.

It's the only company I know of.

Schools with good recording programs

I'm looking into schools, specifically schools west of the Mississippi with good recording programs. If any of you guys knew of anything, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

Bright Eyes, Lifted... Tour, 2003. Not a huge fan, but definitely the best show I've seen.

Drummers - Protorq Drumkeys

Anyone know any guidelines for what torque I should set for each drumhead, or should I just not be lazy and use my ears?

My friend and I were recording a hard-rock type band a week ago. We put an sm57 and an e609 on the guitar cab and it came out real well.

Dad has been playing guitar/harmonica and jamming with his friends since his teens. 'Nevermind' came out and my older brother decided he wanted a drumset. My house has been a friendly practice/recording space ever since. I still live at home, and last time my parents went away for a few days, I told...

Audio-Technica PRO 37 Small Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Mic

I'm looking into buying an SDC, and $100 seems a reasonable price. Anyone know of any reason I should stray from this mic?

New Order - In A Lonely Place. It's the really icy keyboards that do it to me.

Brian Jones Presents the Pipes at Pan is an intense recording. The rhaita (sp?) instruments that the musicians of Jajouka use are ear splitting.
