I have seldom been more underwhelmed by a product launch. All it recalls is the EQ curve, not the sound of the actual piece of hardware. I've got an assload of software EQs that kick ass. This essentially allows you to turn your outboard EQ into a control surface. Waste of money.

Re: Anybody using Logic 7 yet ?
I've been using it since October (I got an NFR literally the day it shipped). And sure there are few little bugs, but it's much better than 6. The streamlined audio editing tools and channel strip presets are worth the price of addmission. Also the guitar amp modeler isn't too bad. Sure there are be...

Maybe we've spending too much time sweating the details. Let's just let the customer mix the record anyway they want ...

Re: Should I Render Soft Synths?
Render it, but not through your host application. Go back into Reason and bounce out each track by itself. There are always timing issues happening with any sequenced synth, even software. You will be amazed. Once you bounce them out, bring into Tools and check them against the grid. Your jaw may dr...

Re: I hate all the reverb plugs or hardware I have ever hear
I'll second Space Designer. I've been using it to create fake rooms for drums tracks, and it's killer. I generally hate most reverbs as well, but this thing really works.

Re: Out of Phase Bass Drum: Help me save this project !!!
Hmmm ... I'd borrow a friend's drum machine, anything with a trigger input. Send your kick track to the trigger input of the drum machine and listen to how well it lines up. If it syncs up, find a sound you like and make it work. If it's slightly late, you may be able salvage it by really compressin...

Re: diy mastering for live backing tracks
I've been doing the same thing for quite some time ... playing live instruments over backing tracks. Don't compress them! Like it was stated above, knock it down to as few tracks as possible, and get those levels as hot as you can without clipping and then leave it alone. Live vox sung over overcomp...

What to do in Seattle?
Hey gang:
What are some good Friday and Saturday night hangouts? Would prefer a no bullshit sort of rock 'n roll bar ... stiff drinks, good jukebox. I'm getting put up in Bothell for a few days. Anything within a cab or bus ride would be best.
Thanks

Re: Beat Detective!
You can do it with Ableton Live 3 and higher. You'll need to use the warp makers on the drum multis. Just enter your master BPM, load in the tracks, and then go through each one and line up the grid by hand. The trick is not go any finer than quarter notes and always set at warp marker ahead of the ...

Re: The Faint...Name that equipment!
Yeah I wasn't blown over with the new Faint either. As far as their last one, that was made with a Yamaha CS2x, Yamaha AN1x, Clavia Nord Lead 2, Novation SuperNova 2 and E-mu Turbo Phatt synths. And yeah, live bass in places.

Played with my new Moog MuRF. Made soft synths sound, well, hard. Otherwise, I drank the pain away.

Re: How do you keep the hi-hat from bleeding into the snare
While recording, make the drummer set up the hat as far to the left as possible (opposite for lefties) and move the snare as far to the right as possible. And we're talking inches here. Then aim you close dynamic on the snare so the bulk of the rejection zone is aimed towards the hat. It will never ...

Re: hey i have an idea about using vstis and mic pres
I was having actually the same exact thought. But what might be better (and what I'll be trying tonight with the new Moog Murf) is nixing the filter stage on the soft synths and using a real hardware filter stage. I'll let you now how it goes, and I'll try the mic pre thing too.
