Mac only I'm afraid:

I've never tried it, but it's great that the developers released what seems to be such a wonderful thing for free.

I was surprised at his sound after finding out he was on Anticon, but in many ways he fits in perfectly with those guys. Steve the Cat is such a beautiful track, and I can't to hear his track on the new Jel album either. And if you haven't already, check out this brilliant video: http://www.anticon....

I use them all the time, pretty CPU light on my old laptop and they sound great. Much more CPU intensive, but the digitalfishphones are also great examples of high quality free plug-ins.

I don't really think you can explain albums, either you enjoy them or you don't from my experience. I have to listen to Loveless on headphones (or loud speakers) in the dark whilst reading by torchlight, otherwise it doesn't really work quite so well for me... That's what I like about this topic, we...

AllMusic is pretty good for surfing, especially for finding what your favourite producers have also worked on. I'm not particularly keen on their reviews, but they generally aren't as pretentious as other sites from my experience.
You have to register to listen to samples though.

If you're using a DAW, you could also record the snare being hit and see just how much phase cancelation* there is in a sequencer/wave editor. Even then, it's how it sounds to you that should determine your final decision. The best way I can explain this is with numbers I'm afraid. Think of the top ...

Re: Getting on Music Thing
I just sent an email to Music Thing telling them about WikiRecording. If those of you who like WikiRecording could visit the blog (its really quite awesome) and send them an email saying how much you like the site, it would probably help. Here's the site: http://musicthing.blogspot.com/ Thanks for ...

They only have one other "proper" album, which is the self-titled follow-up to Dummy. The live one is very good as well though, although I haven't seen what the DVD is like (I think there might be a video of it on YouTube). Beth Gibbons (the lead singer) did a folk album with Rustin' Man (alias of T...
