Mic Preamp kit
I remember a while back there was a company that sold mic preamp kits. I think it may have been someone who posted on here. It wasn't Paia, it was something a lot better. Anyone recall?

dell 5150 power brick
I've been having this problem where I end up with this nasty noise in my audio, mainly from my internal sound card on both of my computers. I've narrowed it down to only being a problem when my laptop is connected to the power supply. The effect is lessened when it's put on a different circuit, but ...

Re: sound proofing advice
Auralex >isn't< effective, and it's not designed for sound proofing in any case. Nice thick drywall will do you much better. As for taming room tone, and making the place a better place to record, you should probably head over to recording.org's Acoustics forum. The auralex fiber insulation isn't e...

sound proofing advice
My current space is in an old converted factory building. It's filled with artists and businesses and such. The only problem is the walls they've put up are thin and cheap so if I have a band in there's no way I can operate without pissing off a bunch of people. So I've decided to start sound proofi...

Re: Making mono sound like stereo in Pro Tools
duplicate the audio file on another track. Pan one hard left and the other hard right...flip one out of phase. That's what I do. That's probably not a good idea. Being that if you were to put it in mono it would virtually dissapear, or even if the listener was in the right place. I suggest a stereo...

Re: drum mic techniques
I've been using
ATM 4033s as overheads
57 on the snare top
sm81 on the snare bottom
beta 98 on toms
akg 451c (as room)
beta 52
Kinda weird, but I've been pleased with the results. All into a presonus digimax lt.

I think room mics help with tom sound enormously, that's what I'm hearing on those karate recordings also.
