Re: Tube Amp for ipod...sit down first....

That is the most ridiculous "audiophile" piece of useless expensive crap since the $600 potentiometer that was being made fun on here a year or so ago.

Re: Mastering Software - what do you use?

I have used CD Architect/Sound Forge, Waveburner, Samplitude, and Spark XL. My absolutely favorite is Spark XL however there is no more support for it. I thought it was great to create this involved plug-in chains to create things that way. Right now, I'm working my way over to Waveburner since we h...

Re: Broken gear stories. How did it happen? How much did you

I was playing a gig at a British American club with my old band, and were towards the end of the set. We were on a new song called "Polka party", and it involved 4 hendrix chords. I was using my brand new vintage modded Teisco Del Ray that sounded like Kyuss walked the earth again. Anyways, the dist...

Re: My New Toy (G5)

We spent the summer at the studio where I work completely upgrading our Dual 2.0 G5 to no end. Now it has a 1TB RAID, and 8GB of RAM, and 2 Studio 17" Monitors.

It writes data at 247 MB/sec, and reads at 180 MB/sec.

Re: rackmount servers for a DAW ??

A reason I can think of regarding the computer linked above is that almost no software on the pro audio market takes advantage of 64-bit CPUs, forcing such proicessors to run in emulation modes (i.e. 32 bit) where they become very sluggish. This includes the major operating systems. Wait a year or ...

Re: Live MIDI Performance

I've used MIDI in Logic before. But it becomes a bit of a hassle trying to get everything configured. I'd rather have something pretty much solely dedicated to the live performance. I've heard alot about Reason and Live. But I really don't know alot about their interfaces and how they are supposed t...

Live MIDI Performance

Okay, So I play in a bunch of bands. I play guitar and bass normally on top of screaming my brains out. I also play keys/synths/samples/noise. It kinda sucks bringing 3 keyboards and my sampler to gigs when I only use a couple sounds. I decided it might be a worthwhile idea to move my whole electron...

Re: The meaning behind your band/name

In high school, I played in a band called id.. That was purely on the fact that we did not fit into any real group and people said we went crazy on stage. We were the "id." of the scene, as you will and that's where it came from. My other project "Milo Pony," came from a discussion while recording t...

Re: Best Format for Portable Recording of Sounds and Music

Look what you can do in terms of an older 24 bit portable DAT machine. You can get one of those for a few hundred now and then. As for mics, I would get 2 AKG C-1000s for a stereo sound. They are cheap and they sound good (and you can run them on batteries, so you dont need phantom power.)

Re: Favorite 'room' mic?

A Royer R-121, with a slight touch of compression sounds absolutely awesome for room sounds. The Coles 4038 is also awesome, but can not be found for under 1k. Hell, I haven't heard a ribbon mic room sound I have disliked! You can find the Royers used commonly for 800-1000 on ebay and around the blo...
