Part of your problem is with running the twin at 2.... they just don't open up until you get 'em a lot louder.... and they are still clean. I don't know which model you have, but I suspect it is a Silverface with an ultralinear transformer.... so 100 to 135 watts. Damn loud! You can run a twin with ...

Looking for FOH person for our band

Looking for someone to do sound for us at NYC clubs... we are tired of hearing from our audience that the house sound was bad.... As you know, it is a lot of work to do a show in New York... and it is really not worth it if people can't hear the songs. The band features harp, pedal steel, drums, bas...

Don't buy the Maverick... and I don't really like the Carter starter either. I have been playing for 25+ years, teach, and do a lot of pedal steel tech work here in New York. My best advice is to find a good used pro pedal steel guitar.... it is a difficult instrument to master and many drop it afte...

You can't have just one amp..... and you know it!!!! For the studio.... if I had to pick a few.... Deluxe Reverb, Gibson GA 6, Vibrochamp, small 1X8 Supro, Harmony H 303A, AC 15 (vintage, or 90's Korg reissue), Marshall studio 15. That will do it for recording...... Live..... probably a Pro Reverb.....

Go here to check out the different incarnations. Gibson Garage There are a lot of different circuits, with some variations not listed on any site. Gibson did a lot of on the fly changes. I happen to like the GA 5 versions with the 5Y3 rectifier best. I own several, and my favorite is the blonde tole...

The TG1 is a great comp limiter..... I wanted something new that had a classic sound, and the TG1 did the job. I made a decision to go with a mix of vintage and modern gear to reduce the maintenance problems that come with an all vintage studio... so I had to do a bit of research on new stuff that w...

I'll tell you a story about the Calrec. (see above post for pic) One day, my wife, unhappy with the results of some recent mixes, declares that we need a vintage console. (Thanks God!) So I mention that it will cost some serious cash.... cash that we don't have. So she says that she will just go on ...

Ahh shit, I guess Ill shell out the cash for the vintage 10A125. Yes, just do it.... and forget about those Jensen reissues... they are OK, but the Weber gets really, really, really close to the vintage Jensen. I take the vintage Jensens out of almost everything... I'll put it back in if I sell one...

Good posts Chovie D..... You can repalce the pots pretty easily, and there are some decent ones ( at $20.00 each) being made in Canada now...... but then we will get into that Canadian vs. Mexican pot thing........
