Re: Getting motivated on your own music recording projects.

I'm currently taking some writing classes from The School Of Song (highly recommended). Each week has a lecture and homework to write a song that week using the tools discussed in the lecture. Having the weekly deadline has really kicked my ass. It also helps to allow yourself to do something that ...

Re: Snares - what’s everyone using nowadays?

I have several and switch between them on a song by song basis. Supraphonic and COB Slingerland get a lot of love.. and a slingerland wood snare... sometimes a ludwig pioneer wood snare and also a super deep olympic wood snare.

Re: Mixing with Hardware - Hybrid

I am mixing into a summing chain - I use a Rascal Audio tonebuss into a silver bullet with some OTB compression. I feel that this gets me to a fuller more glued mix faster than ITB - though I know if can be done well (see Tchad blake etc.). But that magic low mids thing IMO is more about balances an...

widening stereo sources in a mix

I'm looking for some new ideas on ways to take something like an acoustic guitar (that's stereo miced and hardpanned) and make it wider - more apparent on the sides than in the center. I get sent stuff to mix like this a lot - even though it's stereo, it's crowding the center of the mix and a lot of...

best way to send a video feed of DAW to iso booth

this is a bit of a weird one but lately it has been suggested that it is sometimes helpful to have a visual of the audio track you are trying to perform in sync with (like when trying to sing harmonies to an existing vocal track) and I get that and am wondering what the best way to do that is... I a...

delivery resolutions for digital

I am curious if people are moving away from 16b 44k as the final delivery format now that cd's are not the standard and digital distro will accept higher bit and sample rates. Is there a new standard? What do you do? Do you provide clients with multiple? 24b 48k would seem like a reasonable upgrade ...

I have messed around with these a bit over the years to varying degrees of success but I still often feel like I don't really know where to put it in the chain on say a snare track or a kick that you want to add some snap orpunch to.... post compression and eq? looking for some good tips / tricks an...

If yer ITB you can actually use a click-remover, which I find most accurate when blowing up the track visually and just applying it right on the peak of the attack spike - it's basically un-noticeable that you did it.
who makes this?
