Behringer compressors

Hi, i'm thinking in buying a cheap but a decent compressor for evening and fettening a bass in tracking, peak limiting in snare and kick and making an acoustic more gentle before AD. Also for live use. Are older "german made" Autocom MDX1000 and Autocom MDX1200 decent comps for that? And MDX2000/210...

Motu 24 i/o vs Echo Audiofire 12

Soundwise, what's the best one? i have the chance to buy a motu 24 i/o for the same price as a new audiofire 12. have to make the decision until tomorrow  Is it a noticeable difference? I could use the 24 channels but i also can wait to put more money together and buy a second audiofire 12. S...

I don't much care for the material, but I think your treatment of it is just fine as is. I don't hear anything weird going on when I convert it to mono. The guitars could maybe stand to be a touch louder overall, but I don't think it's absolutely necessary. The two guitars are pretty similar in bot...

Here is a link to an mp3. http://www.fileden.com/files/2007/9/23/1454552/Whatever%20john.mp3 Both guitars are miked with two mics but both were at same distance from the cone but at different positions. They sound good in mono, independently, so no comb filtering here or phase cancelations. If you g...

mixes in mono

Hi! I done several mixes for my 5 piece band. I usually hard pan both guitars, one to each side and leave vocals, bass and the drums in the middle. What is happening is that my mixes aren't translating well to mono. I don't use any stereo widening, track doubling or any other artificial method but i...

In front and above of kick, peeking to the snare. Nice balance. Depends on the drummer though.

Or just leave the dynamics. Let it sound like the band sounds in live performance. It's a good thing. At least i think...

Anyway, the differences between channels should already be tuned, before the recording process took place.

I tried the 1176ME and i got to say i'm impressed. Don't know how far the plug in is from the real thing, but it definitely sounds good. At least on bass. Cuts some highs in some tracks like snares or drum groups though.
