I have a trove of TapeOp magazines going back many, many years. I'm moving and want to give them away to a good home. I'm in South Slope, Brooklyn - ideally you would come by today or tomorrow and pick them up. Email me at lukievan@gmail.com or call/text 646-220-1138.
Thanks,
Lucas

Sick Fish
Hey y'all - I made some music for my friend's solo dance performance, which debuted at the Seattle International Dance Festival this month. I used a lot of different sources, including spoken word/instructional samples from used vinyl, beats I made, recordings of my kids talking and singing, etc. Pl...

Wow, it's not often that you do a search for 'Fela' on the tapeop board, find an old post re: 'Remain In Light' only to realize that you already commented on the post, 8 years ago, and then find that a follow up comment includes a personal compliment on your own music that you never saw. Belated tha...

Re: Controlling Frostwave Resonator with CV?
Oh very cool. Are you using the Frostwave to produce pitched tones. or running other audio through it as a filter? Glad to help. I use the Frostwave with Ableton > MOTU Ultralite, which is <5V, I believe. So you should be in good shape... only questions would be if gate length is adjustable and if t...

Re: Controlling Frostwave Resonator with CV?
Thanks so much for that mini-tutorial; it was exactly what I needed to know! I think I need to get my hands on a Beatstep before purchasing - just to make sure it'll work. From the manual: These are the electrical signals sent by the BeatStep CV and Gate jacks: ? Control Voltage: 1 Volt/octave, from...

yup
Thanks for the post - sounds like a great project if I had more aptitude and a lot more time on my hands. I'll have to settle for the easy way out and find a cheap hardware synth that outputs arpeggio to midi.

Hi Luke, You'll also need a higher version of ProTools, since 8LE apparently only does 24 bit 48kHz audio anyways. Thanks for the info Nick! I can't use another DAW since we will be doing further mixing/editing in PT (someone else's system) after I work on it a bit. My sources tell me PT LE8 is goo...

Can I borrow your recent-model MBox in NYC for a few weeks?
Weird request, I know, but I'm in a pickle: I'm doing some remote mixing of a friend's record and the projects are all in PT at 24/88.2. I have PT 8 LE and a 1st-gen MBox but it can't handle the files. Looks like I need a more recent model MBox or MBox Pro or Digi002 (that can do 96kHz audio) to eve...

Thanks for the responses. I'm really interested in creating arpeggiated/sequence type stuff, so a sweepable pedal probably won't do me any good. It seems like LFO's may be good to start with. I'll hook up the LFO Output of my Moogerfooger and see what happens and work from there. ....aaaaannnnnd th...

Controlling Frostwave Resonator with CV?
I have a Frostwave Resonator and I'd like to control it using CV to create pitch-specific synth tones. I have little to no idea how to actually do this. Can I use something like the Arturia Beat Step http://www.arturia.com/evolution/en/products/BeatStep/intro.html ? I've seen some vids on YouTube wh...

Wow - thanks for the kind words! interesting musical references; I love M.Ward's stuff in general (songs and recording vibe/sounds) and I liked those first couple Devendra records where it's mostly just him and acoustic guitar but I don't know the Edward Sharpe stuff except for that one tune that we...
