I've had an ATB 16 for about a year and a half and have had many problems with it. I'd find a vintage Trident and have it restored if I were you.

Re: high-pass filter advice

I was wondering where people tend to set high-pass filters when recording various instruments? In particular, I was wondering about vocals, but it would be really handy to hear how people approach other instruments. For that matter, when do you choose to use one while tracking vs. in the mix and ho...

My Apogee Mini-Me has made a massive difference in clarity and dynamic range on my 002R, plus clocking to it makes the 002 sound much better with dense mixes. The fact that it has two great mic preamps and compressors is just kind of gravy.

this is the only guitar i've owned since I was 17 (16 years). Gibson 335 "studio" no "f" holes. after owning a candy apple red charvel for a couple of years, i wanted to move onto something more my "style" almost went for an SG in the same color, but fell in love with the 335. The guys at the store...

As an ATB-16 owner, I'd get a vintage Trident and have it run through by a tech.

Is the editing done? If so, or if they're at least solid takes, just have him "consolidate" (don't know what it is in cubase) the files back to the start of the session then just copy them to a CD, DVD, or Hard Drive and then import the audio files into protools. Of course keep all the files in 24 ...

Cubase to PT LE conversion

I have a client that wants to have me mix some files he's been working on in Cubase. Without the digitranslator, is there an easy way to do this?

Hi friends, Been really busy lately and forgot that I posted this. Thanks SO much for all the nice comments. I'll try to reply to the questions posed. Of course I remember you Nu-Tra, you guys were like Devo on acid, but rock. The kit and the room are kinda secondary to the fact that that drummer ju...

Hi Brent, In my previous post I mentioned that there was one very caring person that helped me out while I was at the shop, and that was for sure you. I was happy that we got the console fixed, and to have made a new contact at TOFT, but unsatisfied that I would most likely be back in the not too di...

Wow. I guess the TOMB is pretty effective at kicking someone's ass. I can see why you are all up in a rage. We are all for the most part around here running smaller studios and don't have money to throw around, but part of me wonders if everyone is venting a lot more than this one circumstance. We'...

So dood, how do you explain the 6dB gain thing? It doesn't work in your studio when hooked up to your patch bay, but when you unhook it from there it works fine? Any troubleshooter worth his salt would conclude that the problem is in the studio, and most likely in the patchbay. Have you experimente...

Wow. And I thought the guy I talked to last time at TOFT was kind of tightly wound.... Mix, and EM have done their reviews which will be out soon. They said it is the best sounding, best built console in its class. Now remember, this guy bought one of the first consoles on the Pilot Program. Those w...
