The Problem: Packaging vs. Cost (helpful suggestions wanted)

Ok, so here's the scenario. http://www.antiquesaredead.org We are a group called Antiques and we just finished mastering our third album, which we are pretty happy with and proud of. We released our last two albums first in a CD Digipack and then in a short-run duplication with homemade materials. I...

Jenco Celestes: Two questions

Question #1: Are they still made? You know, the little portable 3 octave ones...

Question #2: Anyone know where I could buy one from?

Thanks.

I've got a 388. Just picked it up while doing an out-of-state gig. I like what you are doing...wanted to pick your brain a bit though (if ya don't mind). Are you using noise reduction? I don't, and have been getting a pretty clean signal. Also, was wondering if you are running this up into the red ...

the hat won't be a problem unless you've got it miked so that it's leaking in badly into your other mics...and depending on how you miked the drums in general. My guess is that you've got a mono and maybe a kick and a few others in there. If you can't searate the snare from the hat in your overhead...

Nice job. Check out Kelley Stolz's stuff ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelley_Stoltz ), all done at home with a 388 I believe. Love that sound! Is the 388 1/4" or 1/2"??? What type of tape did you use? Jeff It's a 1/4" 388. We used Quantegy 457. Kelley Stoltz was actually someone we found when we ...

tracked live? Love the sound of the 388. I thought about that machine, but went for the 5050 instead. Anyway, it's hard to say much without it being fully mixed. The song sounds interesting, a little wilco and a little arcade fire in there. I'll be interested to see what you do with your hat. Depen...

First Attempt Using Our Tascam 388

Well, we just made our first venture into the world of 8-track tape machines. And here it is: http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=1A47309B334FC62F Whaddya think? Any good for a first time? Constructive criticism is of great worth to me. I wrote that song by the way. :) If that...

He did a fantastic job on our Tascam 388 and it was wicked cheap too.

Hmm... my guess is that it probably has to do with quantegy going out of business again. Have you tried LPR-35? I'm pretty sure it's RMGI's equivalent to 457. U.S. recording media has it at $14.97. -Jerry Thanks for the suggestion! Somehow this morning I found the quantegy 457 on some weird messed ...

Looking For Cheap Quantegy 457 1/4" Tape...

Hey guys, I just did a google search for Quantegy 457 1/4" tape but I seem to remember it being cheaper than it's listed. I wanted to get it for like 15 bucks a reel but it seems like now it's 25 bucks a reel. Am I just looking in the wrong places or is it really 25 bucks now? (By the way, I'm not c...

Back To The 4-Track: Wanna Listen?

Hey gang. Last night, Steven and I pulled out our Tascam 424 cassette 4-track for the first time in ages. I'm not sure what we're doing with the 4-track recordings yet, but listen in and let me know what you think of the song at least. "He Swims In Yellow Smoke" http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php...

I personally think the best thing since Mule Variations is Blood Money. That album has songwriting that just fucking blows my mind. (The "Balancing a diamond on a blade of grass" bit incidentally is recycled (or precycled?) for a song on Orphans) The higher that the monkey can climb the more he sho...

If you are getting a refund that means you gave in interest-free loan to the government. You need to recalculate your deductions. One can claim up to nine dependants without the need to file paperwork. Just don't claim too many because then they nail you with withholding too little money. Increase ...

Tax Refund Time!! Anyone buying gear? Give me a suggestion..

Alright guys, tax refunds are around the corner (except I have to pay 400 to the state this year... fuckers... anyway..).

Anyone buying any gear?

I'm looking for a decent ribbon mic and a Bass Drum Mic for under 350-400 total.

Any suggestions?
