oppressive noise from crate cr-iir
I bought a crate iir recently off of craigslist for very cheap. The problem is that whenever I turn it on, it makes an ear splitting buzzing. It doesn't matter if any instruments are plugged into the amp, and plugging things in doesn't fix it. I recognize that it is unlikely that such an issue can b...

Roland Keyboard Cube CK-60
Hi, I have had one of these amps for 3 years. It's the old one with silver tolex. It worked for about a year and a half, but always sounded kind of gravelly and distorted. Flash forward to October, the amp stopped working. It produces very little sound, and it's all staticky. The light still turns o...

D'Angelo
Does anyone know anything about the new D'angelo album, James River? I heard that awesome leaked track, "Really Love" a while ago, but I've just been coming back to listening to it again lately. Voodoo is one of my favorite albums of all time, and I'm really interested in what he's been working on a...

A couple of suggestions: 1) What I always do (recording mostly in a low ceilinged basement room) is to place the mic up at the ceiling about five feet away from the kit, angled down facing the kit. That said, I love getting the sound of the room in the recording, and I find that I put it above where...

OMG thank you so much. I'm going to make something good. I've always liked the way classical guitars play/sound so much more than steel strings but I don't like the feel of having an onboard pre-amp. I think this will be a neat thing. Do you have any tips as to getting different sorts of intonations...

Contact Mic: Has Anyone Ever Done This?
I really want to add a contact mic to my classical guitar using the technique described in cigarboxguitars.com: http://cigarboxguitars.com/workshops/Piezo_Transducer.php But I am not sure about one stupid (on my part) aspect. Do I fasten the element itself to the soundboard, or do I want them to jus...

Yeah. It comes down to a matter of preference, and of what kinds of applications (sequencing, MIDI, etc) you want to use it for and what sorts of sounds you want. Personally, I've always been a fan of Roland because of the key action (I've psyched myself into thinking that they're different over the...

Simply the Best
I'm just glad that there's gonna be someplace where I can go to buy a crappy dynamic mic with a price point. Or some guitar strings. I don't see why anyone would be pissed about this. Like going to a radioshaq, but with better stuff and service although I do really like radioshaq's cheap warranty pr...

Garageband Effects Question
Okay, first of all, I would like to say that my genre of music is lofi so take that for what it's worth... I was wondering if anyone knew any ways that I could put some new effects on my Garageband rig. I am not asking anyone to help me break the law (if that's even illegal...). far from it, but I j...

tempo
It feels like you guys are pushing the tempo just a little bit at the beginning. I can tell you guys are a tight band/ have chops and all that because you guys hit a stride towards about 3/4 through the song (after the Reggae part) and it really rocks thereafter. I would suggest bringing up the bass...

YO MAN
I like this man. The balance and levels are mixed so that you can hear everything. It takes balls to put those fresh, raw casio sounds out there too. "stay clear of the closing door" and "inbound platform" are solid, Elephant 6 style entre?s I feel like "security" has too little of the drums in the ...

First of all, great song. This is the best I've heard on TapeOp 4 a while. All I would say is that the background vocals are a little loud, and I think that there should be a little more of the main vocals relative to the guitar. Aside from that I think you got a groovay thing.
