Re: What are you building?

Building baffles at the moment. A podium for live performance.
Just ordered a Sherlock (psyched). Hoping to build a passive I/O that will merely attenuate signals coming off a Altec Lansing pre
that has fixed 60dB levels.

TapeOp condensor mic issue #16

This is probably not the first post on the matter. But here goes... 1. has anyone built em? any stories to share? 2. anything I should be aware of? 3. I was thinking of housing the mic element and power supply in a coffee can. Seems like an ideal enclosure. It is metal, and has the rubbery top for t...

Re: I love my Sytek, but....

Hey guys. Let me know how it goes. I am looking for the exact same solution for the same problem. I have an Altec Lansing 8 channel mic pre with direct outs. However the front panel post have no control over the direct outs which pass an unattenuated 60dB signal. I am curious what if any resistor va...

Re: Just got a 388!!!!

If anyone out there has spare 388 parts please let me know.
I need one or more 1/4" linein PCB assemblies so I can send my 388 off to a very very patient and understanding individual who purchased mine around Thanksgiving time.
my email is andrew@californiastadium.com
thanks!!!

Re: Deharmonic Sound Labs - $100 per day - York PA

You want 100$ a day for a couple of behringer pre's and some cheap mics? Why the hell am I not charging 800$ an hour? Not trying to diss you man, Gear or not im sure you can pull off some decent stuff. but wow, people must be stupid to go for that. You could buy your entire studio on ebay for 2 wee...

Re: paia mic pre kit - for sale!

I recommend building it exactly according to the directions and also springing for the rackmount enclosure. It will ensure that there are no grounding issues at the very least. When I started building mine I was too excited to build it according my own specs before I even knew what I was doing. I pu...

looking for an affordable headphone solution

Hi. I need to furnish my studio with an adequate headphone system for recording a band. I need headphones but I am on a budget. They don't have to be hi-end monitor phones. I am looking for something that is able to handle loud volume, has comfortable ear pads and preferably has a closed ear piece s...

homemade -20dB pad

I purchased a new Yamaha mixer because the price was right and I actually like the simple layout and routing options. The problem is that the mic pres get slammed by loud transients like kick and snare. Unless the mic gain is turned all the way down, clipping occors. I was told that cheaper mixers t...

Re: Oktava MC012's crazy cheap right now

I bought a pair the day the ad came out. The Model # on mine is mc012-01.
What is with the -01 part. Are the these the EXACT same mic as the mc012 or a even cheaper budget version?

Re: best firewire drive?

I purchased a Lacie 60gig. drive in Febuary 2002. To this day I have had zero problems with it. It has proven to be quite rugged considering how many trips between home and studio I have taken. It has its own mac os 9.2 system with all my audio apps, plug ins etc. Have never had a problem booting or...
