Re: Cheap USB interface with ADAT?

Sounds like the original poster got this sorted. But here is an inexpensive USB to ADAT convertor option:

Re: Yamaha mt8x

Jack That is good to know. You are my backup plan if I can’t get this working myself since we are both in the Portland area! For anyone in the future reading this, I work on 4-track machines and would be glad to sell you the appropriately-sized belts for the MT8X (or any other machine you might be w...

Re: Yamaha mt8x

Thanks for the wisdom! I ordered a 50 pack of various belts from eBay. So I will probably go that route first. But I have never heard of west coast belts. I will check them out.

Re: Yamaha mt8x

Nothing much to add yet. Following since I’ve got an mtx8 incoming that will need some work and I would like to do it all in one fell swoop.

It only plays for a short time, sounds like it needs a belt replacement most likely according to this video:

Re: Latest gear you've acquired.....

Interested to here what you think of those monoprice pzm/boundary mics. Sale is still going on and I have been wondering about them along with the behringer ba19a. Monoprice has a boundary microphone in their stable right now, was discounted down to $35 last week so I ordered 2 (not received yet).

Cozy - you may want to try either keeping an eye on Craigslist for some cables or else post an ad asking for some. That maybe the cheapest option.

Re: Niggy Tardust

I paid the $5 unheard, because I think that's what music should cost. I know I would buy craploads of music if it was all $5. http://niggytardust.com/ I think the album's OK. Seems to me Reznor ran down his creativity account a good while ago. I really appreciate the Garageband files from his last ...

You may want to try something like the new Alesis Controlpad. So it is like a Roland SPD, but it you are concerned about the size of the pads you could program each pad to send the same midi note . It also has USB and a couple of midi to trigger inputs. the only other option I can think of is gettin...

Yep, you can actually pick up an old phone from Goodwill and do this. When I say old, thing rotary dial. This was featured in an old TapeOp issue. There is a band out of Seattle (Maktub) and the lead singer used to sing through one as a secondary mic.

Maktub ( a very cool Seattle heavy soul band) used one. The vocalist would run it thru a Line 6 DL4 Delay pedal, very cool!
