Are your I/O set correctly (both in the mix window and when you bounce)? yep. all is normal/correct with the I/O. i just kept everything moving by creating a stereo track and bussing to it etc--which is what i normally do when mixing in the box, i'm only obsessing over it because it doesn't make se...

Re: interesting detail

Check your setting on the tracks, between the working sessions and the ones that do not work.
I'm trying--there are so many settings and no quick way to compare.

interesting detail

This is even weirder: the exact same setup works correctly on two songs, and incorrectly on the other two. ( BTW, sending the mix to its own track works, but doesn't resolve the original issue.) Somewhere, there must be a "external hardware inserts OFF" button that I've hit--but I can't find it!

Hardware inserts disappear after mixdown.

I'm using a 003 BLA mod, and everything sounds great, but once I've bounced down a mix, the hardware insert reverbs are absent on the mix. I'm completely baffled. Help!
Want to Trade a giant Trident Frame for a Smaller one

We've got a 12.5' Trident Series 80 and we'd like to trade the frame for a smaller one, or buy a smaller frame if someone is looking to unload it. It fits a 40 channel console with side by side rack spaces on the left 'producer desk' side, and the patchbay is on the right. If you'd like to see pics,...

Over the years, we've had lots of monitors in our studio--Genelec, Tannoy, Yamaha, Event, Mackie. . . I was lamenting to our tech guy that I couldn't seem to find 'the sound.' He's an old-timer that used to work for Ampex, and he suggested JBL 4311's. I tracked some down--cheaply. I did a bit of res...

it really comes down to the f'n caveman/monkey behind the kit--they all bash away with their hats half open--which eats up the whole mix. . . we've tried everything. my solution is to give the sessions with bands who are prone to this nonsense to another engineer. . . i like music again.

if possible, have the amp in the control room and the speaker in the tracking room, that way you're tweaking the amp to what you're hearing through the monitors. no matter what your chain is, it's not going to sound like it does when you stand in front of it. Joe Chicarelli did a record in our studi...

recording outside

recording drums outside can have amazing results--the lack of reflection results in a very 'open' sound. the best element of your scenario is the screens on the porch--thus no wind, the peaked roof takes away some of the 'outsideness' though. . .

i hesitate to even bring this up. . .but everyone should remember that while florescent bulbs use less energy, every one has mercury in it. so every one that is thrown away (or recycled) adds mercury to the water supply and the atmosphere. i'm definitely a conservationist, but this solution, like so...

it's our policy that cell gadgets of any kind are not allowed for this reason--actually i've found that it's just a good excuse to get rid of dumbasses talking incessantly to their girlfriend/manager/a&r guy/etc it's easy to enforce: just have someone call a cellphone, wave it by a monitor, ask,'do ...

this could be really cool--we've been using SE Mics since their inception--one of their reps just called us and asked if we would try some. they're not one of the many 'clone' makers. . .AND they seem to listen to what the buyer has to say.
