Preamp Chassis Sheilding question...
Hi. I've a dumb question about sheilding input/output transformers from a power supply. I built these pres and had a box fabricated with heavy gauge stainless, including a panel that separates the audio from the power supply. There a couple of small gaps in the corners that weren't welded. I have en...

sorry, i don't know how to link to it...but i have a quattro and just "broke it down" in a post on the general board. it's under 'm audio duo' ... In short, no you can do 24 bit (4 in 2 out) with a max of 48 kHz sample rate. The drivers stink, in my opinion, but I'm not going to rehash it, 'cause it...

Hi...
Waves Renaissance for pre master stuff; Waves C1 for crazy comp; TC Works CL on drum sub mixes; Magneto (kinda works like a comp) on drum subs; Waves C4 multiband for everything probably, but I'd need a class to use it right I think.
So, yeah, pretty much Waves...

Re: AD-DA Converters (sound devices, anyone?)
Thanks a lot you two. Those were exactly the enthusiastic responses that will ruin my next week as I try and afford them! No, really, thanks. I was expecting hear they were both great. And that lynx stuff looks super badass...and 192 for less than a grand with six inputs...?! They're killing me. Mon...

Re: do you ever get sick of it
Dave, I'm with you on all of that. The very question of whether or not the music was good or simply accompaniment is on my mind a lot. That started a couple years back when I got a job at a web music place. We had to review, like 30 indie rock self-produced mp3s per day. I walked in there thinking m...

Re: Itunes music service
Interestingly, file-sharing is starting to suck A LOT. I went to Limewire a while back...there's nothing left, and there's a TON of traffic snooping around your computer if you're faster than dial up. It creeped me out, acutally...

Re: do you ever get sick of it
This is definitely the most interesting non necessarily recording-related message board topic ever. Kerry, I've felt like this for a long time...watching people get exited and wondering why I can't. When you think there's no great rock to aspire to - some sort of new energy and community - it's so d...

Re: M-Audio Duo USB
You'll have a lot of trouble getting six tracks into your PC. There are only four inputs. :!: Suerte a ti... That is, unelss you meant 4 in 2 out, in which case you'll be fine... As far as your specific system, I'd suggest buying your Quattro somewhere you can return it if it sucks. I've been using ...

AD-DA Converters (sound devices, anyone?)
Hi there. Sorry to ask about converters yet again, but I can't find any commentary about products in my price range. I'm wondering if anyone knows a great two ch. in and out converter, PCI (native mac) or otherwise, for around 500-600. I don't want m-audio or layla or mia or whatever. I don't think ...

Re: M-Audio Duo USB
For anyone interested, here's a link to Sound Device's data streaming notes for their USBPre (usb 1.1). There's an equation at the bottom you can adapt for 24 bit, 192kHz, or whatever. There's another great technote on the site that explains usb bandwidth in depth. Here's the link: http://www.usbpre...

Re: M-Audio Duo USB
Re: Previous MarkPar posts Maybe you know something I don't, but according to the control panel for the quattro you can have: 6 channels at 24 or 16/48 (4 in/2 out) higher latency 4 channels at 24 or 16/48 (2 in/2 out) lower latency 2 channels at 24 or 16/96 (2 out for DVD or something) high latency...

Re: M-Audio Duo USB
Hi. Thought I'd add to the Quattro specs referenced above. You can record four in and two out simultaneously at 24 bit. Your sample rate will be locked at 44100 (or maybe 48kHz), though. Don't even think about 96kHz, as you can only monitor two channels of 96, either incoming or outgoing. Oh, you ca...
