Session going from ProTools 5.1 LE to 6+? OS9-X

To make a long story short, I just did a bunch of demos on a G3 iMac with an M-box (Running OS 9.2 and PT 5.1) I want to move my sessions over to a G4 running a Mix+ system (running 10.2 and PT 6.?) so that I can finish the material without dealing with an overloading CPU/lack of RAM etc etc. Does a...

If you're playing with a fuzztone, you're not really performing the function of bass. yeah totally, that is a big pile of crap. What is the function of bass again? I totally don't know, someone remind me. I though it was to mirror the guitarist and never have any sort of counterpoint or effect on t...

Yeah I totally agree.
Secondly I think that there should be a performance/practice section on the TOMB. Many of us are performers, all of us are musicians. I think there should be a forum to discuss those matters.

I def. agree with the poster from Recording techniques. Using a single coil pickup would prob. be a viable way to capture EM disturbances.

I've been reading over a few manuals the past couple of days, it really doesn?t seem that bad. Very reasonable. I'll prob end up doing a couple of fuzz/treble booster boxes first to get my soldering skills into shape.

Another thing, has anyone ever used one of those cold solder guns (there used to be commercials for them on TV and I believe you can get them at radioshack). You know, the one where you can actually touch the tip between uses. I don't know how useful those would be to any sort of work besides fixing...

DIY Mic pre kits?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok, I am seriously considering investing some money into a DIY micpre kit (Seventh Circle ect.). I really have not done any work that advanced in terms of electronics wiring (guitars, and very basic amp repair), but the value seems substantial and it is def. a good skill to put my head into. So I wo...

if the band is even reasonably competent i would imagine they play things pretty much the same tempo every time... Thats my point, its about preparation and discipline. OF COURSE there are times when a click is absolutely necessary and that is what the music and/or the technology behind it (ie usin...

DAW's are a gift. What else could I ask for in this world? A Studer? Yes that too, but to be serious digital is a godsend. How else could we get such an easily maintained transparent and stable medium? How else could many of us do things on such miniscule budgets? We've all had our problems, but in ...
