Good suggestions.. I think I will try the carpet idea, and you're right, put it on a chair instead of a stand, as the stand does tilt directly toward my head... Oh, I definitely use earplugs..anytime I play drums, jam with a full band, or see bands live. I already have some tinnitus from my younger,...

Amp stand conundrum

Hey guys, I have an amp that I purchased a few months ago from a local amp builder here in town that sounds amazing. There is just one problem I am having... The amp is 40 watts, and when I put it on my amp stand it just kills my ears at the volume that I need it to be at to really get the sweet spo...

Yeah, it still sounds fine.. I don't hear anything wrong, and I definitely don't want to sell it! That's cool, I thought it probably wouldn't matter, but I was just asking to see if it might. The comment on condensers and high frequencies makes sense too. Thanks

Dent in my SM7

So, a couple of weeks ago, I slipped the mics pop filter off of my SM7 to do a vocal track with a stand mounted pop filter, and noticed that there is a pretty decent dent on the front corner of the microphones grill. I contacted Shure, and I can get a replacement one for not a lot of money, but it g...

I agree with Dakota.. for the money, you should check out Vahalla Room.. amazing reverb for the money. I also picked up Echoboy earlier this year and use it on every mix at least somewhere, and I have a real echoplex.

In my experience, I don't notice it when just recording one track. I can listen to my 512c's vs a cheaper pre and not hear that much of a difference. Once I stack up 10 tracks, bigger difference. Every individual track sits in its own space and can be heard very clearly. The more tracks I record, th...

I was at that Pixies show.. they were amazing, and the Louisville Palace is such a beautiful venue. Let me know if you need any help with anything! (I have a studio in Cincinnati)

What's with all of this well thought out, balanced and helpful information based on actual experience? Shouldn't we be yelling at each other about how this brand is so much better than the other brand and what not? What's wrong with you people?

LOVE the Dap Kings... and the production style... Dap Dippin has some of the most low-fi bad ass funk I have ever heard.. Gabe's bass lines on that album alone are worth the price of admission.. I saw them live in Indianapolis last year and am going to see them in Cleveland at the end of this month....

Not yet... Have you ever heard of Rondo guitars? They have a bunch of guitars that are basically copies of other instruments. They make a line of basses called SX. I bought a P-bass copy a couple of years ago for less than $150 bucks, kept reading about them on this website called Talkbass, where a ...

What do you guys do with the S+M dial? I had a recording workshop that I went to one time, and the teacher was asked about this, to which he replied... "S stands for shit, and M stands for Music... set it to Music. As far as I can tell, the M is the side with the most low frequencies represented, ye...

A positive customer service experience

Hey guys, I just wanted to give credit where it is due. I have a couple API 512Cs in a lunch box, and one of them was on kick drum duties a couple of weeks ago when it started having a really nasty distortion issue. I tried moving it to different slots in the lunchbox, but same problem. So, I emaile...

That is too funny, because I did exactly the same thing while mixing a couple of weeks ago. I have a monitor switcher and somewhere in the process of taking a break with a client and coming back into the room I had switched over to the avantones and didn't realize it. It kept tweaking the mix becaus...
