I think it foolish for someone to say this is unfair testing, this is where it is at, period. These all sound very good, slightly different, but good all the same time. I had the Avenson pair, and sent them back. I was only needing them for quieter sources, and the noise was a definite problem. I am sure they would kill on louder stuff like drums etc, but I couldnt use them. I havent heard the Earthworks, the only other 1/4 in. I have used was the Behringer which i...

The mics I've been raving about lately are the Shure KSM141s, sort of a sleeper mic. They're pretty neutral, realistic sounding mics, switchable between cardioid and omni. I've been using a pair as stereo omni room mics, XY overheads, stereo acoustic guitar (better for fingerpicking than strumming)...
