Your overhead placement is a bit strange... the image it renders is really uneven due to the proximity of one mic to the kick/ride and the other being over the kit... a bit unrealistic if you asked me... but the floor tom sounds nice at least - and plays a major role in the song. if i were you i wou...

RADAR 24 difficulty? Quality?
I have a session that Im producing/engineering coming up soon in Boston and was hoping to track and possibly mix at a studio instead of on my system at home (mainly because i'd like to track this particular group live and 16 inputs isn't enough for a 5 piece the way i'd like to do it) So the situati...

perhaps you could post a bit more information... how did you record it? how do you have it currently mixed (ie did you eq any of the instruments, compression? etc). what software are you using?) it all sounds very muddy, as if you either need to either record the instruments in a different way to be...

if you'd like to spend less than 400 on all three your best bet would probably be the e604s from sennheiser. i've used them on two sessions when i was out in california and never really cared for the sound of them, but they are a bargain i suppose... if you were willing to invest a bit more money yo...

i strongly disagree, i've had amazing results with the V series plugins and i rarely reach for the ssl plugs. demo both, choose which one suits your taste.

id wait it out
i'd wait till the end of the summer because it's highly likely that apple will release a laptop with better specs by then... as they just came out with the 8 core mac pro. but - you won't have any problem with using a 2.16 ghz model as long as you max out the ram on it (for most mixes). you just won...

my fathers father (grandpa) was the manager of a power plant in virginia around 60 years ago. after a storm had raged for 3 days he asked his best friend and coworker if the lines were off, tired from being up for so long and unable to think clearly the man responded with a yes. my grandfather went ...

i had a cheap radioshack iron originally which really wouldn't cut it for the PCB but it was fine for stuff like cables etc... it just depends on what the task at hand is. after upgrading to this WTCPT (about 100 bucks) i don't see how i lived without it for printed circuit board work. a good solder...
