i love the vocal sound! that Rhodes and the BG "Ahhhs" need to come up pretty significantly. Maybe boost the L side guitar a hair. There's something out of phase on the drums, i think...or is this a real low bit rate mp3?

seriously? just call their bluff and tell them to put out a shitty sounding record. it'll hurt them more than it hurts you, and most likely these guys don't have enough scene pull to negatively influence your name if they're this juvenile.

When there are relatively few instruments I tend to still try to cover alot of the frequency spectrum. Where I would normally high pass acoustic guitar in a dense mix, I will try to focus more on the guitar being big and wide. With fewer instruments it's alot easier to let each instrument be itself...

heh... yeah, trying not to get too emo about it here!

but like, at this point, i make a living, i get how to use reverb, i know what kind of compressors i want, and i make networking connections on the regular. what i want to know is how the fuck other engineers handle normal, every day life!

i'm kinda confused by this.... if i want just the distortion on my super timeline, i just keep the mix knob on Source. all buttons out on mine is 1ms of delay...is it the same on yours? i'd only use that at "all wet" if i wanted to throw pitch modulation on something without actually delaying it muc...
