Re: Vintage Synth dot com
it's dicey. some days i'm locked up and pages won't load, some days it works fine. i wonder if its all the ads they have going now they are gumming up the works. sad really, it's a wonderful knowledge base, i frequent there often.

Re: Vinyl tops CD sales - first time since 1987
In fact I'm confident that many of them (like myself and all my friends) immediately recorded it to a cassette so they could listen in the car too (or boombox, walkman... yikes! or whatever). So yeah, many of my albums also only got played once or twice. When I was at uni I had this pair of friends...

Re: Vinyl tops CD sales - first time since 1987
the way i have seen for most artists (label or no label), is PRE-ORDER only for vinyl. They announce the records, leak 2 tracks, then you can buy the vinyl but you gotta pay upfront. you get it 6-8 months later. this ensures they only order the amount sold and profit or break even. i've seen the sam...

Re: Vinyl tops CD sales - first time since 1987
who cares? they're buying physical art and that's what counts. do you make stipulations "you can only listen to this, and it must be on a marantz tube unit" when you sell your art? i don't care if people eat dinner off my record, it's theirs, they bought it, and bless them for actually paying for it...

Re: Amp Closet Soundproofing in 3rd Floor Attic
Fabric covered 703 walls will work more toward focusing the sound inside the closet. I'd start by getting an isolation pad like the https://auralex.com/greatgramma-v2/ so the cabinet is decoupled from the floor. Get one of those and do the test again. Then see what you need next. And speaking of yo...

Amp Closet Soundproofing in 3rd Floor Attic

I have been recording primarily direct since i have a day job and do all my creating at night after my wife and kids are in bed. i yearn for the amp. so i have a walk-in closet up there i would like ...

graph still shows solid growth each year. i don't care who's selling it, the kids are into it now and long may it continue. cassette is on the rise as well still growing each year. physical analog media has a place.

Re: Rudy Van Gelder website - gear & history galore
thank you. fascinating that the studio was constructed without an acoustician or modern sound treatment/proofing. cinderblock sides, concrete floor, cedar planking ceiling with douglas fir beams. and yet the results are legendary.

Re: Another Tascam 388 wonderer...
i've owned them a few times and each time i sell. i don't like DBX and unless you record loud punk/metal/rock you're gonna have hiss issues with DBX off. If there are any quiet parts that could be a problem. There are other options that are great as well, try the Fostex line (Model 80, R8, E8) it is...
