Thanks for the tip. I contacted Digikey and they can't help me without a part number. I contacted Mackie and got a reply saying that they are backed up on email for at least a week.
Does anyone out there have a part number for these faders so I can order them?
Thanks!

Mackie fader question
I have a Mackie 24-8 that has two input channels faders malfunctioning. Turning them up slightly (-80 or so) causes them to go to almost full volume. I have tried cleaning them to no avail. I need to order a couple of faders from Mackie and replace them, but I'm in a time crunch to get this done. I ...

If the tape is shedding, you're going to have to fix it before backing it up. I haven't tried the NuFinish method, but tape baking does work and doesn't have to be complicated. I recently ran across some old tapes I wanted to be able to play again. Most of them had a good case of SSS. On a whim, I c...

The formula for fusing speakers I learned was: Take rated power handling of speaker and divide by ohms. Take the square root of the resulting number to get the fast-blow fuse size. Go one notch lower to be safe. i.e. a 75 watt speaker at 8 ohms - 75/8 = 9.375. Square root of 9.375 is a bit over 3, s...

I have the 520, not the 512. If the 512 has a standard AC cord, the power supply is internal as opposed to external (possibly to keep costs down?). I would assume an optional external power supply would not have been cost effective to produce, especially on a less expensive console (than the 520). T...

I've got some AKG (made by K&M if I'm not mistaken) stands that I've had for 15+ years with few problems. The only problem I've encountered is with the sliding tripod base part that sometimes slips. I generally just let the main post go to the ground and then retighten. Some of the "dumbbell" handle...

Okay, one more thought. When the tape is threaded, is the capstan spinning? IIRC, one of the idler arms (I want to say the takeup side, but I may be remembering wrong) turns on the capstan motor. When the tape is threaded, or you lift the idler arms, does the capstan start to spin? If not, there cou...

I've heard mentioned that if you thread the machine a certain way, you can make the tape run backward but I've never tried it. Threading the tape is pretty straightforward. Past the heads and then between the capstan and pinch roller and then onto the takeup reel. Make sure you are on the outside of...

I have the Epson R340, but I've had it a while and I don't know if it's being made anymore. It's a great printer. Ink it pretty high, as it uses black plus 5 separate color cartridges for a total of about $100 per set, but they last quite a while. The software (PrintCD) that comes with it is pretty ...

Someone gave me a pair of Telefunken 12AX7 tubes, and on a whim I put them into a pair of Tube MPs I had lying around to see what it would do. I tried them on a live stereo recording for a choir using AT 4033s in an XY pattern. I have to say, it's a very natural sound. It's my go-to "straight to a C...

"All this work to find out the identity of a fictional character." What work? Took less than two minutes using whois and google. It took longer to make the post. Someone asked who it might be and I looked. End of story. I enjoyed the read, but don't particulalrly care who the mysterious Mixerman mig...
