i. i'm almost afraid to ask, but what kind of stuff does the keyboard player have going on those 20 separate tracks? We use a good deal of electronic drums ( played from Roland or Trap Kat pads ) -- so there at least 8 min. -- Half of our bass tracks are keyboard orientated -- Solo strings are usua...

Direct really works well for live venues -- less bleed and more control back in the studio for editing ....We do the keyboards and directs off each amp ( to blend later ) I have been tracking at three studios > the last few years -- one is a 10% direct -- the second is 40% direct & we track with 75%...

We have 16 outs of our Kurzweils all going direct to our DAW/Board -- never re-amp.. the K2600 has decent balanced outputs >> and the keyboard sequencer is solid to our DAW midi ...for mixdown.

You need the room -- to capture that sound. We use a Royer for overall room -- 'bout 4 feet out and a 57 on the cab & a direct line from the amp :: mix the three to choice.

I know most don't use it but I think the Joeco BBR is great for live recording. 1 rack unit, very little fiddling and it uses an external hard drive so you can just plug that in your DAW and mix away. Of course assuming there is FOH you can plug into. Thanks for sharing --looks like a great box ~! ...

What do most use for live recording? Guess it depends on the size of the band/venue...... A laptop with 24 channel input box with phantom and decent gain is almost doable { but probably expensive } ...but > more to worry about & still no faders on board.

After reading all the posts cgono, You are again simply patting yourself on the back for using some archaic old hardware. None of your posts here actually seem to be even remote tied into your title. What gives, man? Do you, or do you not want something "new" to use instead if what you have? Just a...
