Yeah -- agree with The Scum. If you are using the external pres, then: -Normal your pres to your converter ins -Normal your converter outs to the line ins on your board for mixing -Use your incoming second alphalink for headphone/monitor mixes (converter outs) and inserts for hardware effects you mi...

yes, i keep most of them. I end up nesting them like those Russian dolls into the most compact footprint possible. Though sometimes this makes tracking them down a bit of a pain! I keep them especially if I think I might sell something one day, or it has foam or a box that would be particularly usef...

Welcome to the board! My feedback is partial and based on a data point of 1, developing my workflow. I am sure others on here will be more complete and knowledgeable. My hybrid set up uses a board with fewer routing features than yours seems to have, so there could be better ways At least 2 ways you...

I used spray insulation in the ceiling of my last space. I used 2" of it - sealed nail holes and other penetrations in an unvented roof design. I also needed it for R value requirements. I think back filled it with netted cellulose for $ savings and sound isolation. This approach may work for you bu...

Ampex 601 preamp - sold

For sale is my vintage Ampex 601 tube preamp. Converted to preamp from reel to reel tape deck. Gone over completely by the prior owner. Works as well as my other preamps. Vintage sound - amazing on acoustic guitars, drums, vocals. Instant Otis Redding or 60s folk sounds, or super vibey over the shou...

NYC Big Muff and Maxon OD808 - SOLD

Super minty pedals. Maxon OD808 is known as THE Tube Screamer. They are $150 new. Mine is in almost new condition and rarely gigged. There is velcro on the bottom. $100 NYC Big Muff. This one is almost new in condition. Gigged exactly 1 time. Barely any paint scratches. Sounds awesome and wooly. $35...

If you are going the pedal route, you should also look at the Strymon Mobius. I have their Timeline (delay) and it sounds amazing, is highly tweakable/controllable, and can accept line levels.

Have one and love it. Use it directly with patchbay, connect with unbalanced and balanced outs of my board or another effect. works and sounds great. Have a Little Labs PCP under it and DIs, etc and don't feel the need to use.

Agree it can be a little noisy, but I have used it prominently on mixes.

While I generally agree with the good an concise answer above, it may or may not answer the OP's question. He never mentions clients nor the need to run a business. I took it as what are the best ways to acquire gear for the least cost/hassle. Buying used? OK or not? For what things. Over time? What...

Good advice here. Yes used, yes ask for deals - if you want it all at once and new, you will likely get some good discounts. If you have time and you want to space it out, develop a list and a desired price, and stay on the look out. Set up ebay notifications, check here, gearslutz, etc. often. When...

I am fully in the camp of whatever works Jesse, so I think what you are doing totally makes sense. I get the peculiarity of the Lynx mixer. Also, with firewire and the lynx perhaps you can't get the latency down to do what I am doing. And to Jim - I had my board set up to use just the DAW as a recor...

Yes, can you tell us about your software and connectivity? I have 2 Aurora 16s with Lynx AES cards. While I have a board, I recently changed my set up for monitoring/playback, bypassing the board and using PT to set up cue mixes. It has been awesome. For this function I really only need my headphone...
