Roland SH-101 repair in Portland, OR
Hi, Any recommendations for where to take my Roland SH-101 for some tlc? I replaced the broken keys and bender, but a circuit board is broken where the power inlet goes. I repaired this years ago, but now it's worse. I'm guessing this wouldn't take an SH-101 expert to fix, just someone who can find ...

Re: Samson PL1602 mixer, LED replacement?
Nick is a strong contender for TOMB MVP. I wish I'd followed his advice more precisely when I bought my A&H mixer.alexdingley wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 4:42 pmWow! That was so much easier than I imagined it would be. Nick, it was exactly as you figured; cold solder joint.
5min fix.

Re: Recording Vocal Tracks without headphones
I thought the whole trick to this was to flip polarity on one of the speakers so it cancels the other at the microphone. Make sure the mix is the same L/R though for that. No stereo anything.

Re: Finding an amplifier for +24dBu
My mixer supposedly outputs +25dBu. It's going into a nice Sony 330 ES consumer amplifier. I guess, technically, it might be hitting +19dBu since it's just rca ins and the mixer is balanced output. Sounds great. You just need to find an amp that considers itself to have good headroom.

Re: Opinions on Aux Channel Distortion (Was Plasma Pedal)
You''ll need an impedance matching device for guitar pedals. I made one a while back. I find I don't always "need" it. My MoogerFooger Ring Mod seems to do fine without a reamp. It's on Aux 5. I could see fuzzes and preampy gainy things being a bigger issue though. That QF2 pedal emulates the plugi...

Thank you for this. So helpful! I'm going to ask Santa for one.numberthirty wrote: ↑Thu Jul 07, 2022 3:40 pmIf it's "Along The Lines Of The PAIA..."?
It seems like a company called Iron Ether made a pedal called the QF2 for a bit that seems like it might be along the same line as the Quadrafuzz.

Re: Opinions on Aux Channel Distortion (Was Plasma Pedal)
I have one (actually the plasma coil tmr variant). It is a hard gated fuzz sound, there would be a big contrast between wet and dry sounds. If you’re okay with a non subtle effect, then yes this is a very cool pedal. Not what I’d call a bit crusher. There are video examples of your application if y...

Opinions on Aux Channel Distortion (Was Plasma Pedal)
Hi Kind and illustrious TOMBers, I've been wanting to throw a distortion on my 6th aux send of my mixer. I tried the Rat pedal, but I feel like it always has this signature resonance that bugs me. I also like a "bitcrushed" sound. The Plasma Pedal has really caught my ear. To me, the Plasma Pedal so...

I find this thread much more inspiring than the "acquired" thread. But I find it much harder to un-acquire than to acquire gear.

Re: 1 vs 2 Displays
I have done dual displays at work and home, but these days a single large (28+“ 2k+) display is best for me. +1 I gotta say, my wife bought me a 43" 4K samsung TV for Xmas last year and I decided to use it as a computer monitor and it is awesome. I used to be a confirmed "2 monitor" guy (sometimes ...

Re: Analog/Hardware Brickwall Limiter for Digital Mastering
There's also the option to use a regular DAW and add mastering-type plugins to it. Most decent DAWs anymore have an easy "save mix as MP3" option. Grab Reaper, toss in something like Voxengo Elephant and a decent EQ, and off you go. I bought a reaper license right before I gave up on ITB. I guess I...

Re: Analog/Hardware Brickwall Limiter for Digital Mastering
I didn't know whether to start a new topic or extend this one. Since this thread is all background info for what I need, I thought I'd start this way. So, it looks like I need stereo editing and mp3 making software. What would you recommend? I'd like one program that would let me edit intro and tail...

Android recording software
Hi Lovely People,
Does anyone have any multitrack recording software they like on Android tablet?
Free or otherwise, It doesn't have to be too many tracks or too full featured.
Thanks,
ck

Hi, I want to thank everyone for discussing this. I'm always surprised when wanting to be off the computer is controversial. I hate that I essentially function as a troll on the internet at times, but I feel like I am sincere about this. Oh well. I'm pretty committed to figuring this out. I'm assumi...
