Yeah I know they're good on all kinds of things- I happen to quite like them for DI bass and drums too- but I've never actually stacked a bunch of tracks with them up, they way you would with console pres for instance.
Maybe I'll try an all Scully song to be sure before I give them up.

Scully 280 electronics. How many are enough or too many?

So I have 8 of these that I use as preamps, and while I do like them quite a bit and use them often, I feel like I'll never end up using more than 4 at a time. As I'm in downsize mode, I'm considering selling 4 off but am a little hesitant because I really prefer having 'blocks' of preamps as oppose...

Congratulations on persevering with the project. I gave up on my dual G1176 around xmas and haven't gotten back to it yet. The parts reorders have been my undoing, and I'm not even to the hard stuff yet.
Was the fet matching as big a pain as I think it's going to be?

That is a good trick. More live soundguys need to know about this one...and speaking of grumpy people (kiiiiiiddddding...well sort of), some pretty grumpy responses to what appears to be a well intended post. What exactly is so offensive about clicking a link? People add them here all the time witho...

Hey Jim A couple of greenhorn questions if you have a moment... So I picked up a few replacement caps (of the same value but higher voltage) locally which just eyeballing them seemed like they would fit...nope. Looks like I'm going to just put an order together and be done with it. When you say I ca...

Mine is actually noisy on both channels, so I'm thinking the power supply caps may be a large part of my problem- although getting the unit away from other equipment did seem to help a bit. I guess I was a little off track because the type of hum I have was referred to as ground specific in all my s...

Hum from these is from the reverb pickup coils. They are like single coil guitar pickups and are hum field sensitive. You can do a few things to reduce it. First, replace all the electrolytic filter/power supply caps. Use bigger values, 105 degree rated Nichicon VZ are great as they last and are sm...

Hey thanks Scum and Kevin for the responses so far. So it sounds like this 50Hz noise is not exclusive to ground hum then? I'll try the caps. Would I need a scope to measure for AC on the power rails? Because all I have is a multimeter. Might be easiest (and about time anyhow) just to change out all...

Orban 111b noise..........jeeeez

Helloooo I seem to have some hum from my orban spring reverb that is minimized when I cut at around 50 Hz. Does anyone have experience with these things? From what I've read it sounds like ground related hum, and I've tried playing with a few grounding solutions- single power outlet for the chain, g...

+1 on the AF12. I've had mine for a couple of years now and am still extremely happy with it. When I was shopping for a converter box I auditioned a few similarly priced units side by side (onyx 800F, MOTU 828II) and the Audiofire 12 was the clear choice. Even to my less-than-golden ears its sound q...

I love what a single overhead Beyer M260 does with my cymbals in my crappy untreated, low-ceilinged room.
I also recall thinking the tape op omnis (anyone remember those?) were nice and smooth in a similar environment.

Way under budget on both of these, even for a pair of the 260's.

Anyone have a schematic for a Lexicon Prime Time?

I have a broken one of these things, the model 93, that I would really like to be using.
I've contacted Lexicon for a copy and they think that theirs was lost in a move (?!)
I would happily compensate for time/copy costs/postage.
Thanks

Sony c mics

So was there a Sony mic that looked like a c38 but was a tube condenser? Maybe a transitional c37a?
I saw what looked to be a c38 with a power supply and was wondering what the deal was?
