Drum chains any one?
So dose any one care to share their audio chain for recording drums? I'd realy like to hear what other people do, what they use, if they compress or not... Etc... Mine is kinda something like this: Overheads: SM-81 flat, no pad > Symetrix > Some times a little BBE > Motu HD896 > Sonar Center kit: AT...

Sonar 5 selectively hanging on XP x64?
So my newest fun adventure is trying to figure out why half of the files I transferred over from my old rig (Sonar 5pe on win 2000) are hanging on my new rig (Sonar 5pe XP x64). I was thinking it might have to do with a 32 vs. 64 bit VST thing or something, but have mostly ruled that out. Save a bad...

snare drum issues (sounds like butt)
So were doing sound checks (as I type) and the drumers snare has the worst overtones I have ever heard (think of a jet landing on your house), we have pulled the top head twice and reseated and tuned it and have messed with the bottom as well, to no avail. Can any one recomend a quick fix or a nice ...

Don't the firepods have 2 adat optical hookups too? Having 24 inputs on your first breakout-box would be pretty sweet... You sure wouldent have to upgrade for a while. Motu makes some nice stuff but I gotta tell ya, I've been useing an HD896 for almost a year now and it still only works right when i...

I have 16-18 in's (8 HD 896 MOTU + the 2 DAT and another 8 lightpipe), and 3 actual pre's. My question about phase would be how is it possible to eliminate phase when you are micing drums, as drums are separate instruments, all placed at different distances, from different mic's that are set up at d...

Thanks shed, I didn't mean to freakout, it's just I'm sick of people saying 'it's not your record'. I KNOW it's not my bands record, but it's still got my name on it, and I want to try to get bands the best product I can get. However I have been trying to avoid the whole drum replacer thing for some...
