I usually use an at4040 about an inch from the rim, with the diaphram looking half at the skin and half at the shell. Than I use an EV RE-10 on the bottom about 4 inches below the snare pointed at the middle (Gated to get rid of kick bleed). A majority of the snare sound comes from the top mic. Than...

If your room sounds good and your band sounds good in the room why not try a stereo mic setup? Get two decent matching condenser mics (Sm81?) and try micing the group like that. I have done this for recording practices and it usually sounds really cool. Have the band set up all against the wall for ...

Ive done this a few times. Its worked well in some cases, and not so great in others. I liked how it sounded when I pushed it a bit over the top. go to http://www.myspace.com/derangedrecords and listen to the track by Brainkiller. I mixed that through the 388. This track may or may not help you gaug...

Trade? My ElectroVoice RE-20 for your SM7?

I did a project recently and got paid with an RE-20. I love these mics, but I have one already, and dont really need 2. I have wanted an SM7 for a while, and know they are pretty much the same cost wise, so I figured it was worth a shot. shoot me an email at kevingebo@gmail.com.

If we going with Grateful Dead recommendations I would go for Box Of Rain, such a great kick off to a great album.

I play a 73 Pro Reverb (w/ master vol.). I use a FullDrive II Mosfet (10th ann. addition) and I love it. Highly recommended.

I play a Ric Dakota, brige pickup is stock, neck is a GFS NYII, if that helps. With that pickup combo it KIND OF sounds like a tele with both pickups going, kind of.

I apologize, I should have elaborated... You will need some additional stuff. I have the jacks, the power supply, the case, and the strips. You will need to drill the case, but it is case that you put together, so you can drill the front and back beforehand. You will also need all the wiring and a p...
