If you're on the west coast and shipping isn't too much this cable is fine. We use it for loaner instrument cables. Bands always "forget" and pack your instrument cables after sessions "by mistake." So, we use this cable and put out new ones when the others walk away. We put pre-printed shrink wrap ...

We have a Fatso, and I have the Rupert Neve Tape simulator and they all sound totally different, which doesn't help you if you wanted to know if one was better or not. However, this makes sense since three different tape machines will sound different, even with the same tape and alignment EQ. I real...

That is fantastic. Thanks for the feedback, glad to know this can be done properly by someone other than Electrovoice/Bosch/whatev. We originally called EV to find out about repair. They wanted: a) us to pay shipping both ways b) $250 to evaluate the mic c) they were not clear if the $250 went towa...

RE20 Repair
We sent our RE-20 to Ben and he repaired, restored, and re-finished it in a day. We shipped it on Monday and had it back for a session that same Friday. He was responsive and cost less than 50% of what EV wanted just to look at the mic! Very highly recommended. http://www.farkasminglejumbleshit.com/...

So what is the verdict on the SCA T15 ?? Inquiring minds want to know !! David Blackmon Very short answer: great transient response. Quiet. Still good head room compared to many other options. On ADATs, DATs, and DA-88s there is an age issue at play. The rubber components involved with the tape path may be drying out. Even though all of the internal electronics may be perfect. If you're doing any critical work, you'll want to have the units checked out by professionals who fix these units...

Sound Skulptor STS update
Working on the review for the Stereo Tape Simulator. Put 10 tape simulators in a shoot out and they'll all sound different. I promise to talk about what's going on in the review. Is it worth the money? Well, if you are comfortable building it, YES!!! Here is a photo of the new face plate we ordered....

Eisen update
I share your disappointment, as I wanted to order several more, myself. In fact, we are talking about whether we wanted to market a version... Eisen Audio originally sent us the kits in October 2009. From there, I sourced parts from other manufacturers and didn't have all of the guts until early Spr...

Sound Skulptor Stereo Tape Simulator Kit - status update
People have been asking about the Sound Skupltor Stereo Tape Simulator Project . Fortunately, we've been working with Sound Skulptor and are presently calibrating a test unit. Dylan thinks this kit takes about 30 hours of taking your time, double checking every resistor, and methodically building it...
