Looks like the RNC/Microlimiter are sold. The rest still available.

Price lowered on the EMP mic preamp. Ridiculously cheap for a good sounding pre.

Some good info here:

I have the Senn HD250 and like em a lot, especially for loud stuff where the Sondy MDR-7506 are too damn bright.

The bass drop technique may have been borrowed from hip hop, but I always thought it was trying to emulate and expand the bass guitarist throwing out an obnoxious slide down to heighten the drama, hence the falling pitch. At least, that's what all those moshcore bands I used to see in VFWs, Knights ...

That last post got me thinking. Two walkman transports mounted on a panel. Cut a slot behind the second (monitor) head, to serve as a channel that it can slide horizontally in. Attach that to slider and you have a variable delay time. Then add a roller mounted in a vertical channel, spring loaded to...

Lately the habit here has been to use an EV 635A a ways under the snare. I was skeptical, but it is just a variant of the "heart" mic.

Nice discussion all. I have an old Altec 1206 mixer with a spring tank in it, and i was going to hacking into the existing driver circuit. The ZeroTronics passive Coolsprings got me thinking about going the external preamps route. Cool info and graphics on the ZeroTronics site: http://zerotronics.co...

For schematic examples of how to run on a single rail by means of biasing at the half-rail: http://jlmaudio.com/Baby_Animal_Mic_Pre.htm Note the 1/2V tied to the input of the opamp, and how that circuit is not referenced to ground, as Ned pointed out. The circuit must "think" that +24V is ground. We...

Look for NewYorkDave's One-Bottle pre. I built a two channel box for around $100, with some parts scavenged.

Cruise evilBay for $10 input and power transformers, get a $2 12AV7, and throw it in a scavenged box from some broken gear or an old cash box. Done. 8)

Open it up and take pictures of the guts to post. That gets people interested and speculating about what circuit it uses and what mods it might benefit from.
