Re: which 8 tracks?
I guess it depends on the nature of the vocal parts. You have the luxury of mixing after the fact, so the thing you want to make sure of, is that you can in fact, mix the different levels later. I was assuming the two lead vocals wouldn't be occuring at once. OK, Lead vocal on one, backups on anothe...

Re: which 8 tracks?
1 OH
2 Kick
3 Bass
4 AcG
5 Mand
6 ElG
7 Backups x2
8 LdVox x2
Mix the 2 Ld Vox evenly while recording
Ditto with the Backups
Place the OH to capture the snare, toms, and cymbals evenly
Position the Mandolin and AcG each side of the drums so any bleed of the drums can add stereo ambience.

Re: Seymour Duncan Antiquity Pickups?
I put a pair of Antiquity Jazz Bass pickups in my J-Bass and they are the light and the way! I know you're not asking about bass pickups but I'd thought I'd pass on my good experience with that line.

Re: soundforge plug-ins
Am I missing something? My version of sound forge has VST support. Hmmmm.... I don't think so. If that's true, let me know how you're doing it. A wrapper? As far as I know, and I've been using the program everyday for the past 6 years, it Direct X only. Now... I might be missing something, God know...

Re: Wanted: Groove Tubes GT33 (pair)
If the sale is still active, you can buy them and Guitar Center will get them for you. They'll check the computer and find them in their stock and have them shipped. Guitar Center is the Sears of music gear. Ya gota hate 'em but they do have some pretty out-a-sight deals at times.

Re: Wanted: Groove Tubes GT33 (pair)
I bought a pair at Guitar Center for $99 each 4 weeks ago. I don't know if they're still running the deal but these mics are nice.

Re: soundforge plug-ins
You're not going to find free Direct X plugins. I use Sound Forge and had to buy the Waves bundle (+$1000!). Try the Musician's Bundle at about $149. I just bought the VST to RTAS wrapper and can now enjoy VST freebies in Pro Tools but... Direct X is a different story.

It's more like "How do I make this chocolate cake taste like a s'more?" So you add some marshmello and graham and it doesn't really taste like a s'more... but it doesn't taste bad either.the brill bedroom wrote:Otherwise, it's like "How do I make this tuna sald taste more like chocolate cake?"

Re: Help me turn my bassist into Chris Squire
Reamp the bass through a little guitar amp with a lot of top end and distortion. Keep the original as your low end. Blend to taste just like the Squireman... if he'd tracked with a muddy tone and used his fingers, and was French playing a P-Bass!

Re: Super ghetto baffles
If you've got the 703 board and you're just looking for an easy way to mount it to make gobos, just a build a frame out of 1x4's and thin ply. Make it maybe 4' tall and 5 or 6 feet long. By leaving one side reflective (the plywood backing) you have the option of angling the backside against a flat w...

The guitar harmonies on Bad Company's "Can't Get Enough of Your Love". Whenever I hear that I just think, "Boy, Paul Rodgers can sing!".
