If it's for installation sound, it's probably fine. If it's for the studio or the stage, I would recommend something quad-core with a woven shield. I just hate working with bulky cable that doesn't bend well. And Canare's quad core is what, $.50/foot?

Boom goes the dynamite. I was going to recommend Edcor as well. Mouser does have thousands of transformers but almost none of them are designed to pass 20hz-20khz gracefully.

I hear ya. I was working at a studio that had just got a "new" old U87. We threw it up on vocals and it was just a touch "boxy." We put up the old one and voila, it was gone. Maybe it was the mics? Maybe the singer was 2 minutes more warmed up than with the first mic? Hard to say.
