2", 1/2", 1/4". no computers are even ALLOWED in the studio. and i didn't respond to the other thread. and i imagine that no accurate measure (percentage-wise or not) can be made based on who responded to the tape-user roll call. in the grand scheme of things, this is a small community of special in...

FS: awesome disposable headbands on metal reels
available in 1/2", 1" and 2" sizes. you pull off the necessary length for your headband (also available, various headband dispenser modules made by ampex, otari, studer...), and then tie the headband on your head. injects some soul directly into your brain, as this "soul" is no longer available in t...

Re: Xbox games - recommendations?
halo 2: dual wielding weapons is good, warthog e-brake is good. i don't like the way banshees fly compared to halo. i think my main disappointment was it took forgodamnever for the game to come out, and it's too easy to get through unless on legendary mode. still, it's the best pair of games for xbo...

Re: Recording schwag
is this a market study exercise? thinking of silkscreening NEUMANN on some t-shirts and selling them on ebay? they wont sell. you know what we all REALLY want (and would pay outrageous prices for)? 1. tube tops that have a picture of one piece of lustworthy rackmount gear on the front. tube tops are...

if you've ever visited someone in prison, even the lowest-security yard of the lowest-security prison, you aren't going to change clothes with someone unnoticed. i call bullshit.

Re: The first time I ever walked into a "real" stu
maybe some minor studios... but real enough: first: i was a small kid in memphis and my dad was tracking the voice spots in a fancy studio for a radio program that ran in the south. he did most of the narrative, but made my mom do some too. "Elvis, King of Rock". i still have some 1/4" copies of tho...

Re: Pink Floyd studio stuff
pompeii is the best music video EVER. period. better than imagine, let it be, all that stuff. especially the original laserdisc, or the "original cut" that's on the new dvd... all the hokey digital animation crap that was added to the director's cut is weak. and to add it, they removed shots of pink...

Re: Nearfield monitors/ Stand up or lay on their side?
good call on comparing the image to headphone environment... depending on the monitor and the listening position(s), your mileage may vary. my monitors are upside down, because they have ribbon tweeters without much vertical dispersion... if i'm standing up they sound fine, my ears are level with th...

FS/FT: event 20/20 passive monitors $120
got these new around 1998, they're in fine shape. i'm not going to ship them, you can pick them up (and hear them first) in san jose, ca, or i can meet you in the bay area. on ebay, looks like they're fetching $120-$220 used, so $120 and they're yours. or trade for something interesting (odd reverbs...
