Computers are pretty fast nowadays.....If you are going with a pc laptop make sure that you are using cubase since it runs perfect on a pc. Since you are on a laptop though you will have to record to an external firewire drive in order to keep your programs running well on the internal and recording...

HAHAHA that was funny and true. Drinking and fixing computers is great. re-installing the OP a must if nothing else at least to get rid of all of the trial software they put on it. .....and make sure you burn the copy of the recovery dvd while the DVD player still works so you don't have to wait 10 ...

SO it is not too far fetched to believe that in 5 years most bands will be recording their tracks in basements...and that WILL be the sound. WHo knows? 5 years? How about now! Most of my favorite bands come from myspace basements....and record in their basement or some other crappy venue. F$$K reco...

Cheap condenser mics are better than any dynamic microphone. I would personally rather use 100 dollar compresor mics than 100 dollar dynamic mics....they pick up way way way better and more sound..... ALTHOUGH the whole entire trick is using what you have to sound as great as it can in your mic choi...

I run vista-And it is so Beautiful and never ever crashes....and I run a crap load of plugs..... I think the secret may be in the fact that I upgraded the video chip on my motherboard so that i can have all of those cool little video windows open and it is not sucking up my ram or CPU. Also I learne...

yeah, i've got friends who have built their own and i understand the cost savings inherent in doing so, but i have neither the time nor the savvy to do that. i mean, i'm sure i could, it's the time factor involved with research and educating myself that steers me away from that route. so, an over-t...

It is all sequencing...or drawing in.... Velocity makes giant difference......and is a great place to start. snare rolls are giant as well. learning how to drum if you don't already know is probably important too since you are doing drum parts. ALSO it makes this a lot easier if your song was done i...

They had that piano for $800 a few days ago, maybe if I wait till next week it will be down to $500, lol. The 2 things I'm worried about are what it's gonna cost to fix the pedals, and how much it would cost to get moved, I'm between 45-60mins away from that town. I guess I can call piano movers an...

I'd like to post some of my recordings, but don't have a *good* way of getting them onto my computer. I have Reaper and an M-Audio Fast Track digital interface. However, any time I try to feed signal into my computer, it sounds horrible; it either sounds really dull (low signal) or gets a lot of di...

I don't trust any info from mich.gov Ganholm is an idiot and would have that put on the site just to make people think she is doing something good for the people of michigan. Kind of like obamma saying he's going to create 3 million new jobs......he is just spending more money.....on union labor. so...

I liked to use my computer 14 years ago as a 3 track better than my four track portastudio at the time. In 1994 my computer would barely make a 3 track recording without freezing up all of the time.....I think I had a 15 dollar soundcard too.....and I could do more with those three tracks than I cou...
