Re: 2 quick agreements

chris- i agree. and i'd also like to say: jeff, these are really stinkin' solid. i took some music business law classes at MTSU and we basically reviewed contracts like this. this one's pretty air-tight. nothing too extreme and you can't screw the artist, they can't screw you. let the label change ...

Re: Need help choosing new A/D firewire

Has anyone had the opportunity to use Presonus' Firepod yet?
http://presonus.com/firepod.html

I have not so I can't comment about sound but it could be a viable option.

By the way, where did you end up buying your 703/705 from?

I'm so bad at building things, ha-ha.

Re: Complete Silent PC System

Caz, there are a few places that build quiet computers for the studio but $800 - $1000 over the $1000 budget. I'm in the same boat but I've come to the realization that it will have to be a DIY for a $1000 budget. http://www.musicxpc.com/ http://www.carillondirect.com/clnweb/index.jsp?country=US htt...

Re: homemade bass trap question

Hey Mike. I was just explaining the difference between the two, I really didn't get into the why's of the two. Thanks for explaining, I'm bad at that. I have been procrastinating on building my broadband traps for sometime now as I only have one useable corner in my room. The other corners have a wi...

Re: homemade bass trap question

From my understanding if using a wood panel front the thickness of the wood determines (selects) what is absorbs. Take a look at this pic: http://www.ethanwiner.com/BTPlans.gif You will see the only back they have is the wall itself. Even having 703 covered with burlap spaced out from the wall and i...

Re: homemade bass trap question

By using burlap or other cloth on the front of 703/705 when placed in a corner, makes them a broadband bass trap. You can use wood to frame the fiberglass in. Using wood panels on the front, depending on the size of the wood, makes them a deep bass trap, mid/high absorber or a high bass trap.

Re: The Plan

I'll tell ya from experience the plan won't work.. I tried it, well almost. My plan, strike that, ill advised plan, did send me to Florida after MTSU but I got wooed by Disney to do audio. Damn it, I knew I should have skipped Tennessee and went straight to Florida.

Re: Room Treatment - Windows with mini-blinds?

Ethan Winer has a long article on acoustics: http://www.ethanwiner.com/acoustics.html So the idea for you is, you still want to be able to see and/or open the window in your room. There is a small blurb at this link: http://www.acoustics101.com/exterior_windows.asp and a pic, http://www.acoustics101...

Are you having problems with you current set-up. A 2.6 Ghz PC is plenty. I would up the RAM first if you may be having any performance issues.

Would headset mics be an option, such as the DPA Type 4065 or the Sony equivalent?
