the soundeluxes are great but still brighter than a u67.
get a soundeluxe u95 and put three popscreens in front of it.
I put pantyhose over bright vocal mics, then two or three pop screens. only if soneone is screechy though, i guess.

Re: Pro Tools Question
lower the dae buffer.
Less tapping fingers.
You will need to increase it again and be patient if you are running a high res (88.2k or above) session on a drive not quite fast enuf.

Re: firewire hard dirve
I have been quite happy with the lacie drives in the aluminum case. I use Digidrives to track to, however. I have been making my own rack mounted cases with ducted quiet fans, and better power supplies as of late. This isnt very hard. buy a drive from somewhere, get a power supply and 911 chipset fr...

Re: Pot Cleaning....again
Speaking of faders, Any of you guys/gals know about a thing called "silglide" or some such.?? I need to find a good heavy dielectric lube for conductive plastic, old p&g typre faders. I clean them with an eraser, then need a way to lube the wipers, and bar that the fader rides on. Any suggestions fo...

Re: Quested Monitors
I mixed a record on the big ones, the ones with 4 10" speakers and a dome and a tweeter in the middle. I thought they were weird, but kinda cool. I think the smaller ones are cooler. The big ones seem to be really expensive (even by high end standards) for what you get as compared to the smaller one...

Tim: The 2 mix is all 990c. The auditronics I have is number 007 and has no VCA's, but had some really old IC's. The mix bus and entire master section has been re done with all 990c's. they live on their own pc board under the blank panels to the right of the rest of the master section. The last 8 c...

bass: 4033 and an re20.
I love the 4033 on anything that needs to bark.
4033/bk5 has been my starting point for rock guitar for about 7 years now.

I am using John Hardy discrete op-amps in my custom console based on an auditronics son of 36 grand. Does that count? Hardy rocks.

Re: Rode Mics
I have a Rode classic 2 and I like it a lot. I have had this thing up next to an 87, a 47, and a 67, and for this male rock vocal in particular, it found its way onto about half the songs. the ones that were in the lowest register benefitted from its slightly toppy response. super up front, using a ...
