Ok so this is kinda crushing my self-esteem....
I have been getting alot of comments from fairly noteworthy people in the NE metal/hc music scene that my recordings are sounding thin and 'demo-ish', which is kinda personal because (if any of you are into the scene you can probably relate to me when I say) this is what I do. Metal and hardcore hav...

To take what was just said a little further, I'd maybe stay away from the 'mic pack's just because they are not always as wonderfull as they are blown up to be. Dump the money you would spend on the mic pack into just one nice LDC with multi paterns (I would STRONGLY recomend an AT4050) and like the...

Place it right in the dead center of the kit (between the snare and floor tom by the drumers knee), AKG D-122 on the bass drum, and maybe 2 sm-57's on the snare, or 1 57 on the side of the snare and a SM-81 as an overhead above the drummers head for added flavor. Th...

Re: can you use VST plugins in 'pro' tools?
I don't ever use protools (and after this I don't intend to ever use it again just cause I have found it to be an overrated turd) so I was wondering if you can run VST plugins on it? 10 bucks says you normally use another daw and you often think to yourself while using the turd, 'why can't I do abc...

Re: Metal, Hardcore, Death, Grind, Black, Doom, Elf-Metal...
I do a lot of heavy stuff. A well recorded record is a well recorded record regardless of genre. The rest is just aesthetic decision making during the mix that comes from knowing the genre. That just comes from listening... Different genres require different recording and mixing techniques, and the...
