I know about the program, but I have a Macbook Pro and so would need to buy a USB adapter that would likely only get used this one time. That's why I was hoping to spend the money on some Caldera IPA and crack a beer with someone while the files transfer instead. I also go to Seattle a lot, offer ap...

I tried out the Edna, and it sounded lovely but it had pretty low headroom. It couldn't handle life as a drum overhead, and with vocals it overloaded (in a way that could be cool in the right context, but was definitely not intentional). Also tried it as a guitar amp mic for a live show, the sound w...

For this, I reach for an expander. Set up two different ones, one for quiet vocals and one for louder vocals, using side-chain filtering to make sure it's keying off the vocal and not the bleed. Then use your DAW's automation to engage them where appropriate. "Walla"!

anyone in PDX have an HD24?

Can anyone with the Firewire capabilities hook me up with a transfer? I'll buy you a 6-pack of a nice craft...

Well not very portable or programmable...but for what it DOES do, it is amusing... Not replacing any of the dedicated synths I have for sure, but surely better to rescue it than send it to the landfill... some of those Yamaha dual-manual home organs are just re-purposed boards from their combo orga...

I've mixed them live once, and it was unbelievably loud, but in a way that put a smile on my face. can't remember exactly how he put it, but their TM/translator gave me the advice that the lead guitar should be the loudest guitar that I've ever heard in my life. he was right. You should definitely b...

There's a couple ways to do this. Even though some house guys might not love this method, here's what I'd do in your shoes to not have to spend a ton of money and set up a bunch of stuff every show. It doesn't involve splitters or mixers at all. Get a 57, the Boss Space Echo pedal (which I have and ...

Seen them a few times, Kathy definitely plays through a tiny Fender guitar amp but I can't remember if it was a Blues Jr, Pro Jr, or maybe even one of those little solid-state ones that sound super gnarly if you turn them up.
