Rickard, Strapping a resistor across the output of the mic basically just changes the load it sees. When you change the load impedance it changes the resulting sound. This isn't the typical way of doing it but apparently it does work. It was discussed here also: http://www.electrical.com/phpBB3/view...

There's many ribbon type connectors that are known to work loose, get dirty etc. If you have it open I would remove and clean all the connectors you can with De-oxit .
Does your mixer have the add on mic pres?(7-16) It has a ribbon conn to.

Placement is the key so be ready to move the mics around. I would recommend a stereo pair especially if the room sounds nice. SDCs are good for this too.

Awesome. I already have an OSA 500 series rack, so I should be good there. These input trannies are too big to fit on a card. hmmm.... My input trannies didn't fit in the conventional way either. I just attached the wires in the right places and attached the trans lying down with a wire tie and a s...

I agree with Mike on the Eisen. I built one 6 months ago using some PM2000 parts and it was very easy and the site has alot of great info. Jens is very helpful too if you need it.
He also sells custom face plates and racks.

I haven't used it but it's getting pretty good reviews over on PSW. Those that have it or have tried it seem to like it pretty well. Most of the people that bad mouth it haven't used it. The lack of moving faders isn't a huge deal. When you recall a setting you just manually move the fader to where ...

Macbook (older style) here. I usually do 16 tracks max and record to either the internal or external USB drive. Never any problem at all.

Sounds like a bad connection or solder joint to me too. I don't see how flipping the switch would help if the capsule was bad.

Re: PM100 Output transformer?

So here is my question. I have 2 pm1k modules recapped, changed the EQ points, and added the bypass caps to. I've tested them using a Cinemag CMOB-2S. I'm thinking about using the Carnhill VTB-1148 for the output transformer. I haven't wired up a output transformer with 8 pins in quiet awhile and I...

I've used a lunchbox with some good pres into my Alesis MM16. I've even used the line only stereo ins since they can still be selected separately in the DAW. The pres still added their flavor and it was worth doing.
